  • Location / London/Brixton, England
  • Venue / Carling Academy Brixton

The first show by the band in this city since October 1999 on the Euphoria tour.

The first time at this venue and the final night of the UK/Ireland tour.

Joe told the story of this being the venue where Phil Collen saw his first concert in 1972. After seeing Deep Purple here as the 'Brixton Sundown' he was inspired to play guitar and also stand on the same side of the stage as Ritchie Blackmore.

The venue is located in south central London in the Brixton area of the city and about 2.5 miles south east of Battersea where the first two 'Pyromania' album videos were filmed in 1982.

It was opened in 1929 as a cinema. The show attended by Phil was the opening night as the Brixton Sundown concert venue.

It is currently known as the O2 Academy Brixton. It was also where AC/DC filmed their 'Thunderstruck' video in 1991.

Some nutter threw a beer (in plastic cup) at Sav during one song. As usual on this tour with the good atmosphere of the crowd the band added 'Wasted' as an extra encore. A fantastic show and a great way to end the UK tour.

The longest show of the X tour so far with 24 songs played. 'BOTH', 'Switch 625' and 'Wasted' all back in with 'Let It Go' back as the show opener.

Vivian played on a song with opening act Ricky Warwick during his set called 'Three Sides To Every Story'. The first of many times they would play together on this tour.

Parts of this show feature in a 7 minute segment at the start of the BBC 1 series "Swapping Notes". An edition called "Can Russell Watson Cut It?" broadcast on July 23rd 2003 at 11:15pm. Clips of 'Let It Go' and 'BOTH' were shown and Joe talking with Russell backstage.
