Def Leppard guitarist Phil Collen has been interviewed by Indianapolis radio and the full audio is available.

He talked to The Hammer And Nigel Show of 93.1 FM WIBC, radio in Indianapolis, IN.

Phil talked about the current 2017 tour, health and fitness, no being a political band, 30th anniversary of Hysteria, PSSOM, playing live/touring and Indianapolis show.

He was promoting the show in Indianapolis, IN which takes place on 25th June.

"Fantastic. I mean this is the best the band's ever been. I know I say this every year we go out. But everything, you know the singing especially. You know it kinda blows me away actually. It sounds like we're playing along to a record. Everyone's singing so well. Joe, I've never heard him sing so well. Honestly, I keep telling him. It's just, it's amazing. So it's great to be in, you know, in your favourite band and you know killing it like that. It's wonderful."

30th Anniversary Of The Hysteria Album

Surprised it still stands up after 30 years?

"I'm not because you know thanks to Mutt Lange our producer. When we done it, we - it was a really difficult record to make. It took like two and a half years and it was really hard and I don't mean you know physically hard. It was - Mutt said Look we have to make this album last, we have to make these songs great so they're infectious. And literally I remember him saying so that in 20 years times people will still be listening to them. And I can't believe it's actually 30 years old and it still sounds like that."

"So yeah that was his plan actually Mutt Lange and when we'd be - you know, you'd write a song or you'd get a recording and think it was OK. He'd say no, it's actually not good enough. Not that we were slacking, but he would kind of keep pushing us to make the songs better and recording better and the performance and you know everything has massive impact. Something as - Pour Some Sugar On Me this kind of, this crazy rock song that is and the Love Bites ballad, really emotional and stuff. Just sonically and just everything. We put so much into it but he really pushed that out and made that point. You know that this has to last for years."
