The venue is located in the city centre and a few streets south of the 40,000 capacity Ullevi Stadium.

It was opened in May 1971.

It was renovated in 2001 and 2006 and expanded in 1990.

The first show of the 22 date European tour supporting Rainbow who were promoting their 'Difficult To Cure' album.

The band featured Ritchie Blackmore (guitars), Roger Glover (bass), Don Airey (keyboards), Joe Lynn Turner (lead vocals), Bobby Rondinelli (drums) plus Lin Robinson and Dee Beale on backing vocals.

The band were still in the midst of finishing off the 'High 'n' Dry' album recording with Joe still doing vocals later on during the first part of this tour leg.

The short 9 song set played during this leg included new songs 'Another Hit And Run' and 'Let It Go' as well as the already played 'Lady Strange' which had been debuted in 1980.

An audience recording exists of Rainbow's headline set.
