High 'n' Dry (1981)

High 'n' Dry 1981.

Album Notes By dltourhistory

The second studio album released by the band. The first to be produced by Mutt Lange and with a very AC/DC-like hard rock sound. It featured the singles 'Bringin' On The Heartbreak' and 'Let It Go'. The first 20,000 copies of the original UK vinyl came with a picture inner sleeve featuring various backstage pics of the band in blue and center live pics from Reading 1980 with a pink colouring to them - Joe/Rick one side, Pete/Sav/Steve on the other. One of the pics showed Rick Allen naked and covered with shaving foam. This copy also had the title of the album in red. 'Switch 625' by Steve Clark was the first instrumental the band had released. The back cover of the album showed the song titles, the five band members head shots and around them the men from the front cover all looking down and smiling.

The cover art was designed by a group of artists called Hipgnosis led by Storm Thorgerson. Storm had intended to use the artwork for two Pink Floyd albums in the late 70s but it was rejected and ended up fitting the title of Leppards album. The original vinyl record had the NO, NO, NO... repeated about 30 times until the record finished playing with no fade out.
