RICK ALLEN Hints At DEF LEPPARD PYROMANIA 40 Setlist For 2024 Tour/Box Set

Def Leppard drummer Rick Allen was interviewed recently and discussed a possible Pyromania album 2024 tour setlist theme and box set.

The Summer Stadium Tour 2024 was first announced on 7th December 2023.

The tour starts on 6th July 2024 at Busch Stadium in St. Louis, MO and ends on 8th September in Denver, CO at Coors Field.

Three other shows have since been added in Hollywood, FL and in Spokane, WA/Salt Lake City, UT taking it up to 10th September.

2024 Tour Setlist/Pyromania Theme

Rick Allen was interviewed by The Jeremy White Show in November 2023 while in his hotel room in Sydney, Australia.

In addition to promoting his Raven Drum auction Rick was asked about possible Pyromania 40th anniversary celebrations with the album turning 40 earlier in the year.

He also went on to talk about a setlist shake up for the 2024 tour.

In light of recent teasers it seems to point to a new box set release and the playing of multiple Pyromania album songs on the upcoming 2024 tour.

Future On Through The Night Box Set/Residency

When talking about box sets Rick also revealed the band now have access to the original tapes from the first album.

'On Through The Night' has only been reissued as part of the first 'Collection Volume One' box set in 2018.

The extras include were the B-Side 'Good Morning Freedom' plus the 1979 'Wasted/Hello America' versions all of which were previously released.

And then again in 2020 for 'The Early Years 79-81' box set which added 'Rock Brigade' and 'Glad I'm Alive' from the Wasted 1979 single session, the only previously unreleased tracks.

Rick's words suggest demos, different versions and even completely unheard songs exist and are ready for release.

The next big date for 'On Through The Night' is its 45th anniversary in 2025.

And perhaps his words give a good indication of any Pyromania box set contents that could be forthcoming.

Future Las Vegas Residency

Rick also says a future residency in Las Vegas is very likely to happen at some point.

Currently a Vegas return seems unlikely to happen before 2025 at least.

Pyromania Teasers/Joe Elliott 2023 Quotes

Do Rick Allen's interview words tie in with the teasers posted by the band since January?.

It seems very likely indeed.

And as shown below Joe's words about the setlist in the tour announcement press release also suggest that a somewhat radical shake up of the setlist is going to happen in 2024.

A playing of the full Pyromania live might have seemed far fetched before the last few months but now can't be completely ruled out.

Box Sets/Pyromania 40th Anniversary

Question - "And talking about the 40th anniversary of Pyromania, do you see like a brand new box set coming out to celebrate the anniversary? You know, like demos, unreleased stuff. Like, do you guys still have stuff in the vault that we haven't heard yet?."

"And there is, and we keep uncovering new stuff all the time."

"For instance, our first record, we thought that the tapes had been destroyed, but it turns out that they exist."

"So we were able to pull, you know, some versions and some songs that have never been heard from those tapes, which is fantastic."

"So yes, there's always room for another box set."

Host - "Yeah, and there's like endless possibilities. I mean, in the last recent years, there's been a lot of like isolated tracks that have leaked on YouTube and stuff. And like, you know, just like the isolated backing vocal track, like it had like 30-some thousand views on it, and I'm like, that would be a cool bonus track to put on like, on a box set, you know, just have like a five minute montage of some of the highlights of big backing vocals from the record. That's very niche and like fanly, but I think it'd be kind of cool."

2024 Tour Setlist Changes/Pyromania Theme?

"Well we've got you know 40 year anniversary of Pyromania, so you know the next tour is probably going to be quite different um and we've already been discussing that um you know but there's only so much music you can get into 90 minutes you know what I mean."

Host - "Well it sounds like another residency to me. Going back to Vegas or what?."

"Um that's always open that's always open to us and that's always fun for us to do you know to experience the super fans."

"And it's great because we can push out a little bit and play songs that we wouldn't normally play."

"So uh yeah that's always something that's you know you can pretty much bank on we're going to do another residency at some point."
