VIVIAN CAMPBELL Says DEF LEPPARD May Start Recording New Album In 2019

Def Leppard guitarist Vivian Campbell was recently interviewed by Long Island radio and mentioned the next studio album.

Vivian spoke to Joe Rock of 102.3 WBAB to promote the new Last In Line album.

Vivian talked about the Sin City Residency, setlist, still being the new guy/DL fan, the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Induction , getting better as a live band and the Last In Line II album.

He says the band might start recording the next studio album in 2019 and he hopes to play rare songs in Las Vegas at the residency.

The 34th annual Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Induction takes place on 29th March at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY.

The Sin City Residency was announced on 13th February with 12 shows to be played in Las Vegas in August and September.

The Sin City Residency

"I'm excited about that. We had a lot of fun the one and only ever time we did it back in 2013. We've still gotta construct the show yet and figure out how to do it.But the great thing about Vegas is you can approach doing a rock show in a very unique and different way. There's no expectations I suppose so, you know, it's a kind of blank canvas for us."

"And obviously Leppard's got a big big big catalogue of songs to pull from. So I'll be seeing the rest of the guys at the hall of fame. That's the next time we convene at the end of March and we'll be talking about it then I'm sure and getting down to the brass tacks and discussing the show."

"I wanna play Wasted. I wanna play Billy's Got A Gun. I wanna play Too Late For Love.Gods Of War. I wanna play stuff that has guitar. But like I said there's so many great songs in the catalogue but it is nice to dip into some more relatively obscure stuff you know."

Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Induction

"It's nice to finally get this Hall Of Fame thing. I think that my band mates really really deserve it. I think the memory of Steve needs to be in there. You know he really deserves it and . I think it's long overdue so it's something that we're very grateful for but something I think that w deserve and worked hard for."

New Def Leppard Songs/Album

"Yeah we're always, you know, individually we're always coming up with songs.Song ideas and sending tracks around and discussing it. It's possible that at some point this year we might commence recording something. Or if not this year then certainly by next (2020). I think it's time that we started looking at that again you know."

"There's never any shortage of songs with Leppard. But it's not just the amount of touring, the amount of shows that we do with Def Leppard. But if you saw the way that the band works in the studio. I mean there's so much focus and so much energy and intent that goes into every little aspect of song writing and crafting and recording."

"You know having been in so many bands in my career and now with Leppard for over a quarter century, you know, I can honestly say there is not another band on the planet like Def Leppard and there probably never will be. I mean it's just a very very unique situation and everyone in the band takes real pride in what it is that we do. And we always try and make it the best it's gonna be. It seems like we're constantly trying to reinvent the wheel, you know. But we do what we can and it pays off you know."
