2018 Def Leppard/Journey Tour/Set Times

"Oh it's been epic. It's been really really great. Everything about the tour has just been a lot of fun for us. You know we only toured with Journey one other time that was 12 years ago and that was an epic tour as well. So Journey are that just that kind of band. Much like Def Leppard they've such a depth of catalogue. You know so many hits songs one after the other. So it's one of those situations where one and one makes two or three for a great evening."

Younger Audiences

"Indeed and you know one of the big things. One of the exciting things about this tour more than anything else for us. Is that we've been seeing more and more younger people coming to our shows over the years and it's just grown exponentially over the last several year. And you know there's probably 30 to 40 percent of our audiences are young enough to be our kids which is really exciting. That kinda, that energy, we feed off of that. It kind of comes back to the band and it elevates our performance. It's really a win win."

Back Catalogue/2018 Stage Show

"Well yeah catalogue for sure. You know we've been very fortunate, the band's of our generation, have been very fortunate that the record industry of that time allowed us to develop as artists and to row this catalogue. You didn't just have this short window of time to develop your chops so to speak you know. And with Leppard, and the great thing about being a musician is, you know, you grow into it. You can actually get better unlike, you know, if you're an athlete you have a very finite window of time when you're in your peak."

"You know with a rock band like Leppard, especially you know 'cause we've been. I'm the new guy and I've been here almost 27 years. You know there's a solid solidity and a history and a chemistry in this band. And we just, you know, I don't mean to be patting ourselves on the back, but we actually do get better and better you know each and every year. And we've really kind if elevated our performance and our production for this tour as well. The show is quite exceptional. So it's an exciting time for us."

Getting Better Onstage

"Yeah the show really has come together you know. It's funny you mention Hawaii. We're going back there at the end of the tour. We haven't played there in a long time. And we haven't played in South Florida for a long time either so we are excited about that."

Future Plans/New Def Leppard Music

"Well actually this tour we're going beyond North America. We are going to like I said Hawaii, on our way to Japan. And Australia and New Zealand. And then we go to Ireland and England and we finish in London the week before Christmas. So it's a long long tour for us this year but funny you mention that. We are actually writing. We're recording. Sav has written a great song. We've actually been recording it on days off in hotel rooms. So you know we're working on a little something that's coming along."

"You know we'll be talking about getting back into the studio properly for a new album sometime I hope within the next two years. You never know with Def Leppard you know. The technology has allowed us to work as we go. And we kinda live all over the planet as well which makes it a little bit awkward. You know we have to utilise that technology. So it's a lot easier to make records now than it used to be. But we're still Def Leppard. It still takes a long time. A mindset."

Peak Moment Of The 2018 Tour So Far

"Well, you know, every night is really solid. You know we've got a pretty high batting average in this band. But we just played in Denver at Coors Field and we played to 45,000 people. It was a sold out stadium show. You know and that was just epic. You know and the week before we did Wrigley Field in Chicago. We did Comerica. The place in Detroit. The baseball park you know. We have several of those on this tour. We're playing Fenway next month."

"I've been to a bunch of baseball games. I enjoy the experience, especially night games, but I still don't know the rules of the game. So I go for the beer and the popcorn and the vibe. But yeah it's been just absolutely unbelievable to be out there you know to sell out a stadium with 45,000 people and just the energy is. It's immense you know and that's why we started doing this in the first place."
