Def Leppard guitarist Phil Collen was interviewed live on Tampa, Florida TV earlier today and video is available.

Phil spoke to the WTSP 10 News programme 10 News Live on his tour bus.

Phil talked about the longevity of the band, the songs, working with Mutt Lange, Delta Deep, working with Tesla and advice for young bands/artists.

The song will be released as the bonus track on the new Mechanical Resonance LIVE! album on 26th August having been premiered online on 22nd July.

Producing Tesla

"That's been amazing. Their new single, which again I wrote. It was me, Helen and Debbi. It was actually gonna be a Delta Deep song. I played it to the Tesla guys and they said: 'We gotta do that song!. That sounds like a Tesla song'. So I produced it and it came out so well they said look can you do the album?."

"So we're actually doing that on tour. We have a little room. We've actually done stuff in here. We've done stuff in - you know we find a room and record backstage. And that really works out well."

Save That Goodness

"The new single is doing great. It's just this week - today it's Number Five on the Classic Rock chart. You know on the radio. So it's actually getting played and people are really liking it. So we're excited about that as well."

Memorable Songs/Working With Mutt Lange

"Going back to when we recorded with our producer Mutt Lange. He said that. He said let's make these songs like that. It takes a lot more hard work. You can't just do - I mean some people write songs and they're gifted that way and that's great for them. But us mortals have to work at it and you can work at it. We really did. I mean now looking back those songs are still relevant. I mean Pour Some Sugar On Me, when it comes on, everyone starts taking their clothes off or whatever it is. So they do that and you go well, he was right because you can just blast it off. Or you can go no we can actually make this better. If there's a weak link in it. You can take it out and make it stronger."
