It was opened in 1927 as the Academy Of Music and was originally a movie theatre.

It was renamed at The Palladium in 1976 and reopened as music venue.

A one-off show with AC/DC on their first tour with Brian Johnson supporting the Mutt Lange produced 'Back in Black'.

Lep replaced Humble Pie for this one-off show in the middle of their second run with Judas Priest.

The AC/DC track "Problem Child" recorded at this show is on a compilation live bootleg called "Backfire".
