  • Location / Sheffield, England
  • Venue / The Wapentake

The first show by the band in their home city since January 1979.

The first time at this venue.

This venue was located in the basement of the Grosvenor House Hotel in the city centre and just down the road from the Sheffield City Hall.

It was first opened in the 1960s.

The venue was later renamed as Casbah and closed in 2000.

The Grosvenor House Hotel closed in and was demolished in early 2017 to make way for a new office block.

The band were paid 15 pounds by the owner Olga Marshall (who passed away in August 2019 aged 92).

Joe Elliott confirmed on his 31st March 2012 Planet Rock radio show that the band played Foreigner song 'Hot Blooded' at this show.

The song had previously been mentioned as having been played at early gigs by Rick Allen (in the 1988 MTV Rockumentary).

Joe also said the band played AC/DC song 'Problem Child' at this same show.

Joe talked about playing this song in an old interview (with no specifics given).
