Show Intro
"Welcome one and all once again to the Joe Elliott show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock."
"Great to be with you, of course he is. I've only got 60 minutes though, one little hour."
"So what have we got tonight?."
"Well, a bit of this and a bit of that."
"And seeing as how last week, with it being the budget week in the UK, I played Taxman by the Beatles."
"It seemed appropriate."
"As does this this week."
"This is Green Day."
Green Day
"There's a new sheriff in town, or should I say that the old sheriff's been re-elected once again."
"But as an Englishman living in Ireland, I have no connection to American politics whatsoever."
"So let's just leave it there."
"We just heard the title track from that fantastic album, American Idiot."
"It is, of course, Green Day."
Rose Tattoo
"OK, let's head off down under the Blood Brothers themselves."
"This is Rose Tattoo."
"And before that, we heard Rose Tattoo."
"Fantastic slide playing on that particular song."
"The album is Blood Brothers, the song we heard once in a lifetime."
Jimi Hendrix
"From the recently released Electric Lady Studios, a Jimi Hendrix Vision, that is indeed the master Jimi Hendrix with an alternative mix of the song Ezy Ryder."
KISS
"OK, here's some live KISS for you, followed by a band that, believe it or not, once opened for them."
"And before that, we heard KISS from their first live album, Alive I, if you like, with Firehouse."
Rush
"I was at the first ever Rush gig in the UK at Sheffield City Hall in June of 1976, I believe it was."
"And they played pretty much that entire album."
"The album is All The World's A Stage."
"They just threw in one new song, which just happened to be Xanadu."
"What a song."
"But from said album, we just heard Fly By Night and In The Mood."
Note - "The show date was actually 1st June 1977 and also Rush's first show outside of North America."
"You are listening to the Joe Elliott Show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock."
"Coming up, we're going to give No Quarter to Page And Plant.
Page And Plant
"And before that, we heard Page And Plant, a slightly more Indian-esque version, if you like, of using the mandolin."
"From the album No Quarter, that wonderful live album that they put out late 90s, I think it was."
"And the song that we heard, a beautiful rework of that classic Led Zeppelin tune, Battle Of Evermore."
Nickel Creek
"Two wonderful examples right there of using mandolin within the realms of rock."
"We just heard the more country-fied sound of a band called Nickel Creek."
"The album is Why Should The Fire Die?."
"The song we heard, a wonderful bit of work called When In Rome."
Gary Moore
"Right, let's head over to the Emerald Isle, where I am currently ensconced, and get ready to bang your drum with Gary Moore."
"And before that, with equally great drumming, Gary Moore from an album called Wild Frontier, the song that we heard, Over The Hills And Far Away."
Brian May
"Now, if you've been listening to my show for the last couple of weeks, you will well know that I've been playing tracks from the brilliant remixed version of Queen I."
"I thought I'd give it a break this week, because I am going to be playing more tracks from Queen I in the upcoming weeks, no doubt."
"But this week, I thought I'd just go with Mr. Brian May from his album Back To The Light."
"The song features some great drumming from the late, great Cozy Powell, the song that we heard, Resurrection."
Show Outro
"And that, my dear friends, pun intended, is about it for this week."
"It's been a real pleasure, as always."
"I shall be back with you next week at exactly the same time, so please don't go anywhere."
"Until then, I shall leave you with this."
"Again, big drum intro, love this."
"From the album Valley Of The Dolls, this is Generation X and King Rocker."
"Until next week, see ya!."
