Show Intro

"Evening all and welcome once again to The Joe Elliott Show right here on The Wonderful Planet Rock."

"What a pleasure it is to be with you once again."

"I've got a mere 60 minutes, one solid hour to entertain you as best I possibly can."

"Got a bit of everything tonight, including some brand new stuff, to my ears at least."

"Let's give this one a go."

"This is Gunshine."

Gunshine

"Now occasionally people come up to me and hand me a CD and go, hey, will you give this a spin? Will you give this a listen?."

"And with great trepidation you take hold of this and you think, oh God, what have I got here?."

"But occasionally something really comes through for you."

"And I got this CD backstage at a gig, a couple of shows before the tour ended."

"And I brought it home and I put it on and I thought, okay, let's see what happens."

"And wow, was I thoroughly entertained by this record."

"It's fantastic. The guitar playing, the singing, it has an energy of an early GNR and maybe a buck cherry."

"And I really enjoy what I've heard so far."

"They've got one album out which came out in 22."

"There's an EP out now."

"They are Gunshine."

"They were formed during the pandemic and I wish them all the best because I really enjoy everything I've heard so far."

"The song that we just heard is loud. And loud it certainly was."

Judas Priest

"As are this lot when you see them live."

"This is Judas Priest."

"And before that, Judas Priest from their second album back in 1975."

"That album is Sad Wings Of Destiny."

"The song that we heard, The Ripper."

Van Halen

"From that great album that is Women And Children First."

"That is the wonderful Van Halen with Everybody Wants Some."

New York Dolls

"Now, for those Van Halen fans that are familiar with that song that we just heard, for me, when I first heard it in 1978, 79 was it?."

"I remember thinking the intro, that kind of jungle drumming, the jungle noises in the background."

"It sounds quite familiar."

"Hey, we all do it. I'm not criticising."

"But this is possibly where they got it from."

"This is the New York Dolls."

"And before that, the New York Dolls from their second album prophetically titled Too Much Too Soon because pretty much as soon as it came out, they split."

"1974 was the album, the song that we heard, Stranded In The Jungle."

Iggy Pop

"Yes, keeping that new wave energy up and kicking."

"That is the wonderful Iggy Pop title track of the album Lust for Life."

"You are listening to the Joe Elliott Show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock."

"Coming up, we're going to just calm it down a little bit with Supertramp.

Supertramp

"And before that, we heard Supertramp, all 10 minutes and 52 seconds of it from the album Even In The Quietest Moments."

"We heard Fool's Overture."

Be Bop Deluxe

"Now, after last week's acknowledgement of the passing of the late great Herbie Flowers, I was really hoping that the Grim Reaper would avoid us for a few weeks, if not months."

"But I've been proven wrong, sadly, because this week he has taken yet another one of our heroes off to the great gig in the sky."

"This time, it's Simon Fox from Bebop Deluxe, a wonderful drummer, who I saw play with Bebop at least two, three times at the Sheffield City Hall in the mid to late 70s."

"Held the beat down fantastically well, wanted to pay tribute to him this week by playing something that really featured him."

"I think on that particular song, it really shows off his talent."

"Simon Fox is actually also once a member of a band called Hackensack for four years, who featured in their ranks, Ray Smith on guitar, aka Ray Major, once of Mott and British Lions."

"But back to Simon Fox, wonderful drummer, as I said, and as we just heard on that brilliant song from the 1976 album Modern Music, we heard Down On Terminal Street."

"So rock in peace, Simon Fox."

The Rolling Stones

"Well, soon as it's kind of tea time, I'm thinking maybe some of us out there were getting quite peckish."

"How do you fancy some goat's head soup?."

"Hmm, I really wouldn't want to eat any, but I do enjoy listening to it."

"This is The Rolling Stones."

"And before that, we heard The Rolling Stones from the album Goat's Head Soup, with Doo-Doo-Doo-Doo-Doo, brackets, Heartbreaker, close brackets."

David Bowie

"Love that song, and I always will, but this 2020 Tony Visconti remix has just totally battered it into a whole new orbit."

"It's fantastic."

"The album, of course, originally in 1970 was called Man Who Sold The World."

"But in 2020 it was retitled The Metrabolist, which is what David wanted to call the album all those years ago, but no doubt was talked out of it by some cigar-chomping, tie-wearing Svengali at the record company."

"It happens."

"The song that we heard, Savior Machine."

Show Outro

"And on that note, I shall say ta-rah for now, because that's about it."

"I should be back with you next week at exactly the same time, so don't go anywhere."

"Why would you want to anyway."

"Until then, let's go out with this one."

"Now, you could argue that punk rock started in 1973 in New York."

"You can argue that it started in the UK in 1976."

"What you probably won't do is argue that it started in Brisbane, Australia in 1973."

"But they did join in, and this crowd really did make some good music."

"This is the Saints with This Perfect Day."

"Until next week, see ya!."
