DEF LEPPARD Summer Stadium Tour 2024 In SEATTLE, WA (Show Report/Setlist)
Def Leppard played a Summer Stadium Tour 2024 show last night in Seattle, WA with 18 songs performed.
The show took place at the 47,943 capacity T-Mobile Park.
The first show in this city since August 2022.
The second time at this venue.
Sunshine In Seattle
The Summer Stadium Tour took the short trip from Portland, Oregon up to Seattle, Washington.
After the much smaller, but still big, arena show in Portland the band moved back to an outdoor baseball stadium.
A venue which stands next to the NFL stadium Lumen Field as played twice by Metallica in the last week or so on their M72 world tour.
This venue had been sold out in 2022 with 41,280 fans in attendance.
Cheap Trick were back to start this show off at 6pm and Journey followed from 7:30pm.
Journey ended their show as the sun set.
A nice day in the city with warm, but not too warm, temperatures and bright sunshine.
No gloomy North West weather for this return to Seattle and one of the surprisingly few visits to this city.
Like the previous show in Portland the fans in attendance were ready to broadcast much of the proceedings for those of us who weren't there to view it in person.
Thrust Stage Change
As in Boston, and for unknown reasons again, the Thrust stage catwalk had two gaps in it on either side.
This time smaller gaps than in Boston - see Photos/Videos for details.
6th Sep Update - Phil's tech John Zocco confirmed the reason on IG in response to a fan question - "I think it’s different fire/safety codes for escape routes.".
Billy's Got A Gun
After another Pyro Clock countdown 9:30pm came and the big intro started up the show.
And as soon as 'Rock! Rock!' started the fan broadcasts began and continued for almost the whole show.
The band on fire again, in keeping with the Pyromania theme and this time 'Billy's Got A Gun' was played.
The mid-set Pyromania section once again a highlight of the show.
Great sound and accompanied by a loud crowd of up to 41,000 fans singing along.
Somewhat comically one of the fans filming (or someone near them) could be overheard asking if the person next to them knew which song this is (Die Hard The Hunter) and another explaining to someone else that the drummer has one 'hand'.
A hand that was put to good use as Rick brought the rock to Seattle as promised in his pre-show video where he now sneaks out to get a full stage view of Cheap Trick or Journey.
'Rock Of Ages' again signalled the 'big four' finish to the show.
And noticeably louder singing from the crowd who definitely knew the final songs.
'Hysteria' and 'PSSOM' to end and this time no baseball shirt worn by Sav.
If he had it would have been the Seattle Mariners team who play in this stadium.
Someone did hand him a cap at the end as they took their bows and he wore it which may have been from that team.
Just one more stadium show to go now on the 2024 tour and the last show to be played with both Journey and Cheap Trick in Denver.
We could be approaching upcoming tour/residency announcements for 2025 very soon ahead of the November festival show in Florida.
Up next another arena show and as yet no support act named after Jason Bonham's Led Zeppelin Experience had to pull out of two shows in Spokane and Salt Lake City.
The arena lists the show start time as 7:30pm for an "opener" they haven't named and DL starting at 8:45pm.
18 Song Setlist
An 18 song setlist was played.
'Just Like '73' was played in this city for the first time.
Seattle History
The first visit to Seattle was in October 1981 at Moore Theatre supporting Blackfoot on the High 'n' Dry tour.
Two Pyromania shows were played in 1983 at Seattle Center Coliseum.
T-Mobile Park was played for the first time in August 2022 on The Stadium Tour with Motley Crue.
Seattle is another of the least played major cities with many shows in the 2000s played in nearby locations like Auburn, WA and Spokane, WA.
Last night's show was the 7th overall performance in Seattle.
The next Def Leppard show takes place in Spokane, WA on 6th September.
