Def Leppard released their No Matter What single on this day in 2005 in the USA.

The first and only single to be released from the 'Rock Of Ages The Definitive Collection' 2CD greatest hits album.

It failed to reach the main Billboard Top 100 singles chart.

The single apparently got to Number 24 on the Adult Top 40 chart.

The original song by Badfinger was written by Pete Ham and got to Number 5 in the UK in January 1971.

The song was remixed for the 2006 'YEAH!' covers album.

No Matter What 2006 - YEAH! Album Inner Sleeve Quotes

Joe Elliott

"Badfinger. Great name, great songs, bad vibe!!!... They had their troubles and they made ours look tame in comparison. However, when this song gets spoken about in our circles, you'd think we were all around the same radio when it was in the charts!!!..."

"The Beatles with bigger balls, simple, direct & astonishingly memorable...the kind of song that we try write, which is why, one would imagine, we ALL wanted to do it."

"We had a hit with it in the US in the summer of 2005 mainly because, so I'm told, "it sounded so like you guys"!!! Well, it would, wouldn't it?..."

Phil Collen

"Originally released on the Rock Of Ages anthology, this is a newly remixed version of our Badfinger classic."

Joe Elliott - 2005 Rock Of Ages Quote

"One of those songs that when it comes on the radio you turn it up, LOUD!!!!... Compliments our stuff really well and hints towards our pop sensibilities."

Phil Collen - 2005 Rock Of Ages Quote

"Badfinger's version of "No Matter What" was a '70s song that was a perfect blend of rock and pop. We had always loved it so we started playing it live on the "X" tour. It worked great so we recorded it. Check it out!"
