Joe Elliott/Planet Rock - 15th November 2024 Interview Quotes
"Well it means an awful lot to me to be on Planet Rock to be quite honest."
"I wouldn't be close to 750 shows unless I thought this was something worthwhile."
"You see I'm not a DJ."
"I'm a presenter and what I like to do is present songs to an unknowing audience that are going to hear tracks that they've never heard before from bands that they've maybe heard of but never heard."
"Or I'm reminding them of a band that they once saw as an opening act 42 years ago."
Colin Slade/Planet Rock - 15th November 2024 Interview Quotes
"Hi there, I'm Colin Slade and I joined Planet Rock to do The Evening Show back in 2003."
"One of the prerequisites for any Planet Rock DJ is that you have to be properly passionate for rock music."
"You can't fake it. And Colin fitted the bill perfectly."
"I did my first rock show on the 30th of January 1971."
"That was at BBC Radio Medway."
"I got this show two hours every week and played rock music until I left the station in 1974."
"Headed up north to join Radio Hallam."
"Started a show called Hallam Rock which again ran in different time slots but right up to 1989."
"Again lots of great studio guests."
"We also did studio sessions."
"We did a lot of live music in those days."
"I worked a lot with my local band Def Leppard, my boys."
"I wonder whatever happened to them."
"Joe Elliott, I think he's on Planet Rock from time to time isn't he?."
"He used to listen to my show."
"Now I have to listen to his."
"But you know things come around."
"It was a lot of fun during that time and I say I look back with a great deal of affection on Planet Rock."
Mark Jeeves - "Colin's still on the radio down in Devon."
