6 Years Ago DEF LEPPARD's Abbey Road EP Released For Record Store Day
Def Leppard's Live At Abbey Road Studios 12 inch vinyl EP was released on this day in 2018 for Record Store Day.
Record Store Day 2018 took place on Saturday 21st April.
The 'Live At Abbey Road Studios' 12 Inch was available to buy from Independent record stores in participating countries.
It featured live in studio recordings.
The retro cover art was similar to the Def Leppard EP with the large logo from the 1980 'On Through The Night' album and 'Hello America' single. Also included is the street sign from the studios in North West London and the same red stamp title seen on 'The Lost Session' iTunes EP.
The band recorded a session at the legendary London studios on 8th May 2008 when promoting the 'Songs From The Sparkle Lounge' album. Using the same room The Beatles used to record most of their biggest albums in the 1960s.
This was filmed for the UK TV show 'Live From Abbey Road' which was broadcast on More4 TV on 1st August 2008 and featured three songs - 'Rocket', 'Rock On' and 'C'mon C'mon' plus short interviews with the band members. Five seasons of the show were produced between 2007 and 2012.
This was the band's third release for Record Store Day after the 2016 'Def Leppard' album vinyl picture disc and the 2017 'Def Leppard E.P.' reissue as a 12".

Live From Abbey Road TV Show 2008 - News Quotes
"Joe Eliott starts Def Leppard's segment by explaining how the industry has changed so dramatically since the 1980s. When Def Leppard began, bands had five albums in which to prove their staying power, often not breaking through until the third or fourth. In the '90s, however, the standard procedure became to cut a band if its second release wasn't a million-seller. He theorizes that there'd be no Def Leppard if there hadn't been a third record (which was, by the way, Pyromania!). And that would be a shame, as the band makes quite clear as it fires up "Rocket" from 1987's Hysteria."
"The band members give their all on a cover of "Rock On" and it's amazing! Then, they play a new one called "C'mon C'mon", from this year's Songs From the Sparkle Lounge, and it's not only good, it's a prime example of rock and roll in top form. At one point during the interviews, Elliott is saying that they all saw Marc Bolan, David Bowie and Queen growing up, and guitarist Viv Campbell states matter-of-factly "Rock and Roll was a religion back then. It was something that you focused on and it changed your life."
