20 Years Ago BEST OF DEF LEPPARD Album At Number 6 In The UK
Def Leppard's Best Of greatest hits album entered the UK chart at Number 6 on this day in 2004.
The second greatest hits release by the band following 1995's 'Vault'.
The album had been released on 25th October 2004 in the UK/Ireland.
It debuted at Number 6 on 6th November 2004. The sixth UK Top 10 album for the band.
'Songs From The Sparkle Lounge' became the seventh in 2008 when it debuted at Number 10.
The chart success was helped by the television commercial which ran on major TV channels just before and after the album's release.
It has since gone on to eclipse the sales of 'Vault' which it was intended to be a replacement for.
Robbie Williams was at Number One with his own Greatest Hits album. Irishman Ronan Keating was at Number Two, also with a hits album.
Def Leppard were the highest new entry in the chart in this week.
