The venue was located in the centre of the city not far from the Rhine River.
It was opened in 1958 and closed in 1998.
It was demolished in March 1999 with the Cologne Messe buildings now standing it its place.
It had since been replaced by the larger 20,000 capacity Lanxess Arena which was opened in October 1998 just south of where this venue once stood.
