- Location / Atlanta/Braselton, GA, USA
- Venue / Road Atlanta
- Event / Georgia Jam '80
The first show by the band in this city and state.
The first time at this venue.
The venue is located 5.4 miles to the North West of the city of Braselton, GA.
Braselton itself is actually 49 miles North East of the city centre of Atlanta but like many U.S. venues it gets listed as Atlanta.
It was opened in 1970 and this is the only known concert to have taken place at the venue.
Since 2018 the name has been expanded to Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta.
With an audience of 35,000 attending this was the largest audience Def Leppard had yet played to but it would soon be eclipsed later on in the same month as the tour progressed.
Def Leppard started the event at 2pm and the temperature reportedly went over 100 degrees in the afternoon.
A Ted Nugent show was originally scheduled on this date in Lakeland, Florida at Lakeland Civic Center.
It was taken off the schedule and this show was added with Ted Nugent replacing ZZ Top as headliners of the event.
Def Leppard were the replacements for a band called Point Blank.
The original Ted Nugent tour schedule had a date for Atlanta of 3rd July. it's possible two solo shows were cancelled to be replaced by this festival appearance or the date of this event was moved.
