The first venue played after the band signed to Phonogram Records in August 1979.
The venue was located in the city centre just north of the River Tyne and a few streets from the larger City Hall venue.
It was opened in September 1961 and also sometimes called the Mayfair Suite.
The venue was demolished in 1999 and replaced by The Gate shopping centre.
A new pub and restaurant called The Mayfair Pub & Kitchen was opened in Newgate Street in 2019 but is not a concert venue.
The band were reportedly paid 200 pounds for this show with their family and friends also attending the show.
This was the first show played after signing their first recording contract was signed with Phonogram on 5th August.
The band took a trip to the Knebworth Festival in Hertfordshire on 4th August to see Led Zeppelin the day before they signed their contract.
