- Location / London, England
- Venue / Hammersmith Odeon
The first show by the band in this city since early October at Imperial College.
The second time at this venue and first of four shows here.
The venue is located in the Hammersmith area of the city next to the Hammersmith Flyover/A4 road and not far from the River Thames and Riverside Studios which the band would play in June 1999 for the 'TFI Friday' TV show.
It was opened in March 1932 as the Gaumont Palace.
It was then given its most famous name of Hammersmith Odeon from 1962 to 1992.
After that it became Labatt's Apollo (1992-1996), Hammersmith Apollo (1996-2002, 2006-2009 and 2013), Carling Apollo Hammersmith (2002-2006), HMV Hammersmith Apollo (2009-2012).
It was redeveloped in 2013 when it was given its current name of Eventim Apollo.
Rick Allen celebrated his 16th birthday at this show.
He recalled this show during a February 2015 Planet Rock radio show.
Sticks 'n' Drums 'n' Rock 'n' Roll - Rick Allen Interview Quote
AC/DC - Touch Too Much
"Hammersmith Odeon has a very special place in my heart. Def Leppard opened for AC/DC on the Highway To Hell tour in 1979. Phil Rudd is a man of few words but he's a powerhouse of a drummer. AC/DC's live shows were second to none. On one of the shows at Hammersmith I had my sixteenth birthday. Bon Scott came into our dressing room. He wished me a very happy birthday and gave me a big bowl of Smarties. Cool, eh?."
