Show Intro

"Greetings one and all and welcome once again to the Joe Elliott Show right here on the magnificent Planet Rock. Great to be with you once again as always. What have I got fot you tonight. Well I can honestly say of all the shows that I've ever done for this fantastic radio station this one is absolutely all over the shop. In a very good way. Starting off with The Damned."

The Damned

"I always loved the original Barry Ryan version of that song but when The Damned covered it it did bring a big smile to my face. There's a certain amount of sarcasm and irony that goes along with a band like The Damned doing something that is so dramatic as that tune. It is taken from their definitive collection Black Is The Night. It The Damned with a fantastic rework of Eloise."

Toyah Wilcox

"Right now time to celebrate two people who have been for the last few months cheering us boys and men up no end on a Sunday lunch time. So hats off to Robert Fripp and first of all Toyah Wilcox."

"And before that Toyah Wilcox. God bless her. The very perky Toyah Wilcox who with her husband Robert Fripp has been cheering us up with their Robert and Toyah Sunday lunch time freakouts of all sorts of stuff from Silver Machine all the way to Born To Be Wild and many things in between. A great two or three minutes worth of entertainment to keep a smile of your face during these dark dull times. The song we just heard from the immaculately titled Sheep Farming In Barnet is Neon Womb."

King Crimson

"I bet you there weren't too many 9 year old boys that would sit listening to that album in the dark in their bedroom but I was. I was one of them. And I still do it in that environment occasionally. What a great album it is. It is King Crimson. The album is In The Court Of The Crimson King. The song the immortal 21st Century Schizoid Man"."

Mott

"Right then shouting and pointing their way through life. This is Mott."

"And before that the band that he left behind Mott. Their second album Souting And Pointing. Fantastic song called Broadside Outcasts."

Ian Hunter

"Recorded in 1975 but didn't see the light of day until the 30th anniversary of that particular release. It's Ian Hunter's first solo album simply called Ian Hunter. The song Colwater High. Which sadly doesn't have the guitar solo on it that it deserved from Mick Ronson because they never finished the song. But I guess after 30 years artists start thinking you know what let people hear what we didn't do just so they can see why we left it off."

"Right coming up Elton Hercules with a very special guest."

Elton John

"And before that we heard Elton Hercules John. From an album called Rare Masters. Which is exactly what it says on the tin. It's rare and unreleased tracks. And the one that we just heard is a fantastic version of the title track of the album Mad Man Across The Water. But this features the late great Mick Ronson on lead guitar. Didn't see the light of day in 1971. I think the album came out. But boy are we Ronson fans glad that it finally saw the light of day. As I said Elton John Rare Masters. Mad Man Across The Water."

Ray Davies

"So recently I took possession of two Ray Davies albums that I had no idea existed until this week basically and they've been out for probably over a decade now. One of them is a collection of old Kinks songs done in duet form with the likes of Bruce Springsteen, Jon Bon Jovi featuring Richie Sambora. Shows you how long ago that is. The other album I'm really digging it's called The Kinks Choral collection. And again it's Ray Davies singing his old hits but with a choir and it really works well.As we could hear their on what is the opening track of the album. A really great rework of the song Days."

Siouxsie And The Banshees

"Now I think you can count on one finger the amount of songs that have been written about restaurants. Well maybe two. Here's one of the best. This is Siouxsie And The Banshees."

"And before that from an album The Singles Collection Once Upon A Time we heard Siouxsie And The Banshees with Hong Kong Garden. One of the few songs that I can think of where they are actually singing about a restaurant. The only other restaurant reference I can even think of right now is Warren Zevon's Werewolves of London. And if I told you the name of that particular restaurant on air I probably wouldn't be on air next week. So let's leave it at that."

Herman Brood

"So when Def Leppard were recording in Holland back in '84/'85. We discovered this gentleman's music. He was absolutely massive in Holland. Think 90d Robbie Williams. That's how big he was. I remember hearing this song on the radio and thinking who is this guy. Turns out this guy was Herman Brood. And there in all its glory with all its crackles is the 12 inch single that I tracked down in some second hand store in Wisseloord. The song is Saturday Night. I love that song."

Show Outro

"It's been a real pleasure as always. I shall be back with you next week at exactly the same time."

"So until then I shall leave you with this. It's not a guilty pleasure because I don't believe in guilty pleasures. If you like it, you like it. End of. From their definitive collection this is The Monkees and Pleasant Valley Sunday. Until next week see ya!."
