Show Intro

"Evening all and welcome once again to the Joe Elliott Show right here on the amazing Planet Rock. Great to be with you guys as always. I've got 60 minutes to play you some fantastic stuff. We're gonna start the show off with one of the guys that helped out Finland on the rock and roll map. This is Michael Monroe."

Michael Monroe

"From his 2020 album One Man Gang which he has essentially been since the demise of Hanoi Rocks. That is Michael Monroe with a song called Hollywood Paranoia."

Todd Rundgren

"Now then he's in. He's finally in."

"And before that. Yes, he's finally in the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. And it's no more than the man deserves. Absolutely amazing artist. His production work with the likes of Meatloaf on Bat Out Of Hell. He's done The Psychedelic Furs. The New York Dolls. Thousands of thousands of acts. Even Sparks. And his solo work is absolutely undeniable. As we just heard there from the album Something Anything. A fantastic massive hit from the 70s. I Saw The Light."

Note - Joe was so excited he forgot to mention he was talking about...Todd Rundgren.

Sly And The Family Stone

"Rock of a different kind but definitely rock. Fantastic stuff there from Sly And The Family Stone. Don't hear that everyday on the radio any more. From their Greatest Hits collection. A song once covered, sadly not on record, but live, by the Sensational Alex Harvey Band. It is Dance To the Music."

Foo Fighters

"And while we're on the subject of the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. First time nominees and straight in. And well deserved. This is the Foo Fighters."

"And before that the Foo Fighters. Nominated for the first time in their career and they got straight in. Well deserved from their latest, and as far as I'm concerned greatest album, Medicine At Midnight. We heard Shame Shame."

David Bowie

"I love that song. It's the 2020 remix by Tony Visconti. It's David Bowie and it's from the album Man Who Sold The World. Or is it?. Actually no it's not. It's from an album called Metrobolist. Which is what the album was going to be called in 1970. So I can only imagine some A and R man said 'Nah it's not very sexy sounding. Let's call the album Man Who Sold The World.' And that's long before David Bowie had any power to be able to say No, go away. So the re-release for the 50th anniversary celebration of the album was done in such a fashion that it was put together the way that David Bowie intended it all those years ago in 1970. In fact the running order is literally backwards to the version that came out as Man Who Sold The World. Either way it#s a fantastic song. It is Saviour Machine."

"Right coming up we're gonna go all epic with Mr. Derek Dick."

Fish

"And before that from his latest and apparently sadly last album. We heard Derek Dick aka Fish. From the very unpronounceable Weltschmerz album. It's a fantastic record. What a way to go out if it is his last album. The song the Grace Of God."

Wayward Sons

"I haven't played them for a while so I thought I'd give them a spin this week 'cause I really really like their last album. It is called The Truth Ain't What It Used To Be. They are the Wayward Sons. They feature on drums Down 'n' Outz drummer Phil Martini. And also of course fellow Planet Rock presenter Toby Jepson. The song, fantastic bit of work, called Little White Lies."

Jeff Beck

"Now you know how I love my instrumental music. Well here's a couple of absolute classics. Starting off with Jeff Beck."

"And before that Jeff Beck with a fantastic tune from Truth. That was written for him by his childhood bff Jimmy Page. The song is Beck's Bolero."

Love Sculpture

"Now that is one shredding work out for your fingers isn't it. Fantastic stuff there from Love Sculpture. Which is actually Dave Edmunds who was cousin to the late great Paul Tonka Chapman once of UFO and Lone Star. It's from an album called Chronicles. The song is Sabre Dance. And what a dance."

The Yardbirds

"So here's a little bit more Jeff Beck in the form of The Yardbirds."

"And before that The Yardbirds from an album called Having a Rave Up with The Yardbirds in 1965. When Jeff Beck had just joined replacing Eric Clapton. In fact both guitarists do appear on the album. It's a song written by Graham Gouldman who would become a member of 10CC a few years later. But wrote a hell of a lot of songs in the 60s for the likes of The Yardbirds and people like Herman's Hermits. The song with a fantastic opening riff I've gotta say, Evil Hearted You."

Boz Scaggs

"That folks is one of those songs that just gets under your skin. And once it gets in it never comes out. Great work from 1976 from Boz Scaggs. The album is Silk Degrees. The song a massive hit Lido Shuffle."

Show Outro

"And that my friends is about it for this week. It's been a real pleasure as always. I shall be back with you next week at exactly the same time. So don't change that dial."

"Until then I shall leave you with a little bit of black and white from The Stranglers. This is Tank. Until next week see ya!."
