Show Intro

"Evening all, welcome once again. It is, you guessed it, it's the Joe Elliott show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. It is always a pleasure to play some music for you folk out there. 60 minutes, one hour, I've got so much to play, so little time, so let's get started. Back to 1973, the album Aladdin Sane, this is David Bowie."

David Bowie

"So yes, Joe name-dropper Elliott has been talking with the legendary Ken Scott this week, Ken Scott who produced Aladdin Sane track that we just heard from. He also of course produced Hunky Dory and the breakthrough album for David Bowie in 1972, Ziggy Stardust and apparently there is some news on the horizon, but that's as much as I'm saying folks. So let's just jump forward to 1973 from 1972. And as I just said from the album Aladdin Sane, we just heard David Bowie And The Spiders From Mars with the opening track of the album Watch That Man."

Foreigner

"Now here being very provocative towards their agent is Foreigner."

"And before that we heard Foreigner from an album called Agent Provocateur or Agent Provocateur depending on which side of the French fence that you fall. The song that we heard, the opening track of the album Tooth And Nail."

Cheap Trick

"Very happy that those guys are going to be out with Def Leppard and Journey this summer. Always been one of my favourite bands, absolutely wonderful people and fantastic musicians. Great writers, great everything, it's Cheap Trick. From the album All Shook Up, we just heard Stop This Game."

Mother's Finest

"Now talking of being provocative, kop this."

"And before that, talking of being provocative, we heard a band called Mother's Finest doing their very best Led Zeppelin impersonation. The story is really that mostly Mother's Finest were a black band and always thought that Led Zeppelin stole a lot of their ideas from black music so they kind of humorously stole the arrangement if you like of Led Zeppelin back into a song that was written by a black guy called Smokey Robinson. So there's the twist. It is Mother's Finest, the album Another Mother Further from I believe it was 1977, the song we heard, Mickey's Monkey.."

Def Leppard

"A very apt song this week I believe because I've seen the footage from around the Sheffield, South Yorkshire area, many of my friends have been sending footage and I know it's been pretty bad all over the UK to a point. And that song really just sprung to mind I thought, got to give it a spin this week. Originally written by Alan Hull and performed by that wonderful North East band that is Lindisfarne. That is Def Leppard, but in name only because in actual fact it's just myself and Rick Savage, wonderful tune called Winter Song."

"You are listening to the Joe Elliott Show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. Coming up, we're going to get all connected with the Yes."

Yes

"And before that, we heard brand new Yes from the album Mirror To The Sky featuring some great work from Steve Howe. We heard the song All Connected."

Kansas

"What a fantastic set of pipes that man has. That man is Steve Walsh and the band is Kansas. From 1976, from their fourth album Leftover Tour, we just heard The Wall. What a tune."

The Mooney Suzuki

"So following that prog-tastic little 15-minute burst, let's get all alive and amplified. This is the Moony Suzuki."

"And before that, we heard a band called the Moony Suzuki who I discovered on a TV ad advertising a car. I'll give you two guesses as to the brand. The song that we just heard, Alive And Amplified."

Uriah Heep

"From that fantastic album that is Demons And Wizards, we just heard Uriah Heap. It is from the 2017 Deluxe re-release. The song is Traveller In Time."

Show Outro

"And that my friends is about it for this week. Been a real pleasure as always. I shall be back with you next week at exactly the same time."

"So until then, let's go out with The Stonker. And this is the stonkiest stonker of them all. Title track of the album Ace Of Spades. This is Motorhead. Till next week, see ya."
