41 Years Ago DEF LEPPARD's First Irish Show In DUBLIN (PYROMANIA Tour Photos)
Def Leppard 1983
Def Leppard played a club show ahead of the Pyromania world tour in Dublin, Ireland on this day in 1983 with rare photos available.
The show took place at the T.V./Television Club.
A venue also played by U2 in their early days.
This was the second of two warm-up dates before the tour officially started in Belfast a day later.
The 9th February 1983 show in London and The Marquee Club had been the first with then new member Phil Collen.
As revealed in a schedule shown in the 'Definitely' book in 2023 the band actually rehearsed in Dublin for three days (6th/7th/8th February) at Bray Studios before the London show.
The same schedule also reveals the capacity for the show was actually 1,200 and not 600.
They then travelled to Dublin after Phil's debut for their first Irish show.
The city where they would return a year later in February 1984 to write the 'Hysteria' album.
Joe would go on to make Dublin his permanent home and build the Joe's Garage Studio as part of the home he has lived in since 1988/1989.
This show saw Joe wearing the famous 'It's Better To Burn Out Than Fade Away' T-Shirt seen in the promo video for 'Rock Of Ages' which had been filmed in December 1982 and was still a few months away from release.
