Def Leppard EP 12 Inch To Be Released On Record Store Day 2017

Tuesday, 21st March 2017

The Def Leppard EP 1979.

Def Leppard's first vinyl record The Def Leppard EP is being re-released as a 12 inch for Record Store Day 2017 around the world.

Record Store Day takes place on 22nd April this year and unlike last year's Def Leppard album picture disc this release will be available worldwide.

The original three track EP was first released by the band in January 1979 having been recorded over two days in Hull, England in November 1978.

As mentioned a listing for this new version briefly appeared on Amazon UK in January with a release date of 14th April (priced £11.15).

This version features the original song titles and 'Getcha Rocks Off' is listed as the "Single Version" - all newly remastered. It is limited to 4,000 copies in the USA.

The original EP featured 'Ride Into the Sun', 'Getcha Rocks Off' and 'The Overture' on 7" vinyl.

The record label of "Commercial Marketing" (on the Amazon listing) is connected to Universal Records label UMC (Universal Music Catalogue) which suggested they 'might' be getting ready to release a vinyl box set this year.

Vinyl reissues have now been confirmed with the quote - "kicks off a series of re-issues from the band." - on the UK Record Store Day site.

The original EP was released using the Bludgeon Riffola label name the band made up themselves in 1978 following a bad review in the local Sheffield press.

Joe mentioned in November 2016 that the 'YEAH!' album would be released on vinyl.
