Def Leppard Vinyl Albums Reissues Update (More Info)

Def Leppard Albums. Def Leppard Albums

Def Leppard may be planning a series of vinyl album reissues following the listing of The Def Leppard EP on Amazon.

The new edition vinyl was advertised for a release in the UK on 14th April via Amazon UK but that listing was recently removed.

Joe first mentioned vinyl reissues in November 2016 when saying that the 'YEAH!' album would be released on vinyl during an edition of his weekly radio show. He did not give many details and no more was known until the sudden appearance of the EP on Amazon.

Further investigation of the listed record label "Commercial Marketing" reveals it is not only linked to Universal Records but is listed on many other artists recent vinyl reissues.

Specifically on many vinyl album and/or vinyl single box sets with individual albums listed as 'Commercial Marketing' and collective box sets listed as part of UMC (Universal Music Catalogue) which specialises in archive releases.

The removal of the EP could be due to it being listed ahead of any announcement and/or a change in release date.

If the releases are still scheduled for 14th April (which is a Friday) then any announcement should come in the next few weeks.

One interesting possibility is a full box set of Def Leppard vinyl albums on UMC which Bon Jovi released on the same label on 10th February 2017. Def Leppard may be one of the next artists to feature in these series of releases.

The albums were housed in a box as a full set of 17 albums (24 discs) including a bonus disc of B-Side tracks.

This included full Bon Jovi albums, the B-Sides disc and two Jon Bon Jovi solo albums. Available for over £300 pounds as a full set in the box and released individually.

Other artists to have done this include Queen in September 2015, a 15 disc studio album collection. View links to these box sets below and official news updates.

Bon Jovi/Queen Vinyl Box Sets

The most interesting part of any series of vinyl reissues would be The Def Leppard EP, first released in January 1979 having been recorded over two days in Hull, England in November 1978.

The original EP featured 'Ride Into the Sun', 'Getcha Rocks Off' and 'The Overture' on 7" vinyl. The Japanese Amazon site import listing revealed this new release to be on 12" rather than 7".

The first edition of the EP with the cover art (and red label) is one of the most hard to find archive releases by the band and sells for upwards of £100.
