Voice Of Alexandria - Vivian Campbell Interview Quotes

His Current Health Status

"It's a work in progress. It keeps coming back. You know every time I think I'm done with it, it bounces back. But I'm not at all concerned with it. I kind of look at it as maintenance. I'm well ahead of the game. My cancer was diagnosed relatively early and I got good doctors and good health insurance and they stay on top of it. So not concerned."

How many times have you been cancer free before it came back?

"Twice. Third times the charm so they say yeah. Well we'll see you know but like I say I'm really not concerned. So many other people are way way much worse - further down the line than I am. This is - I kinda look at it like going to the dentist you know it's maintenance. Well a little bit more but you know what I mean."

The Pembrolizumab Drug/Improvements

"Yeah it's the latest and greatest in treating cancer but it's still in the clinical trial phase. I'm part of a Phase 2 clinical trial. I'm taking a drub called Pembrolizumab. It's one of several drugs under development - monoclonal antibodies. This stuff Pembrolizumab is actually the same stuff that cured Jimmy Carter. This is, of all the new drugs, Pembrolizumab is probably the shining star. It seems to have had the most effective results. So in fact I just did some scans earlier this week. CT and PET scans that I do every three months and these latest scans are very encouraging. There's a lot less cancerous activity in the tumours. So like I say you know it's all good. We're on this. We got this."

Buying Last In Line From Best Buy

"At the weekend last Saturday I went out to my local Best Buy to get a copy. And I couldn't even find it. I swear it took me 15 minutes to find it. It wasn't in the new release section. It wasn't alphabetised in the A through Z. I eventually found it. I found three copies of it buried in the Rap section behind Lil Wayne. No wonder the record business is in the toilet you know. You can't even buy a record if you want to. Although I know that most people don't want to buy a CD any more. It's much easier to download but I just wanted the physical product in my hand. I just wanted to see the artwork you know."

Vivian Campbell - 24th February Facebook Quotes

"Scan results are very encouraging - there's a lot less activity present. My doctors are "cautiously optimistic", but I'm chuffed. I suspect that they might be chuffed, too, but being doctors they have to be a lot more reserved than I do."
