101.9 The Keg/Crash Davis - Phil Collen Interview Quotes

Def Leppard Tour Rehearsals

"Our show is getting more and more spectacular. Everything changes. You know there's new lights and new screens. There's all this high tech kind of stuff. So you have to not choreograph it. But you have to kind of figure it out a little bit more. Where you can't just go blasting off and like jam some songs on."

"Especially with our stuff. We want to give it a good representation. So yeah you do need to do a bit of prep work. Even not for us sometimes. but for the show. So it's become more than you know it's OK playing in a club and jamming it out and having that approach is cool. But with this you know you're putting on a show and you're competing with you know the other acts out there like Beyonce and Taylor Swift where they've got a very slick kind of thing going. You have to compete with that. So it's kind of. It's got this modern edge and you know it's entertainment, You could go and take show this to Vegas. Which we have done. You roll it in and it competes with all the great stuff that's out there."

"So I think it's really great actually to be involved in that. It's not just the music part of it or being in the band or even just playing the songs. It's actually putting this show on which is a whole other part. As you get more experienced on tour over the years. You go OK the show is very important and the better that is the better it's gonna go down.""

Current Def Leppard Album

"When we started writing these songs on it. We stopped worrying what the trend was or if we were even gonna make an album. We actually initially thought we was just gonna do a one song or something. It's like oh what you got? and then me and Joe and Sav actually. The three of us had these ideas pouring out and we actually couldn't stop you know getting these - we got so excited about it."

"So that's what was amazing about it. It just kind of took on a life of it's own. It was gonna be one single and then all of a sudden we had like 15 songs. It's like oh let's do this one. This is great and I've got another idea. And I've got an idea for that song. It was really exciting and inspiring."
