Def Leppard guitarist Phil Collen has been interviewed by Pensacola News Journal and talked about the 2016 tour.

Phil talked about starting out in music, the longevity of the band, their ups and downs, the best advice he's received, playing live and what fans can expect from the current tour.

The interview was done to promote the Pensacola, FL show which takes place on Monday.

The opening date of the now 56 show summer tour.

Phil mentioned earlier this week that the band are currently rehearsing in Florida rather than their usual rehearsal studios in California.

A separate article recalls the April 2003 show in Pensacola when Phil and Rick Allen visited a local cafe the day before the show and jammed with local musicians.

Pensacola News Journal - Phil Collen Interview Quotes

What would you like to tell the fans?

"We get better every time we go out on tour. The singing gets better, the playing gets better, the songs get better and we have a brand new album. It’s our first in 8 years. If you’ve never seen us, come see us. This is the best Def Leppard that there’s been. It’s great."

What does it feel like when you’re on stage playing?

"A lot of people in this day and age, they just want to be noticed more than anything else. I think that’s why they get so disappointed. That’s why you really have to tune to the art. Then it’s great at whatever level."
