  • Location / Sheffield/Nether Edge, ENGLAND
  • Venue / The Broadfield / Broadfield Hotel Pub

Another performance by the band in their home city of Sheffield.

The first time at this venue.

The venue is located in the Nether Edge area of the city and 1/1 miles to the South East of the Bramall Lane stadium area and the Spoon Factory rehearsal space.

It stands next to Nether Edge Primary School and the Boradfield Park.

It was opened in 1896.

The sixth performance by the band in their home city of Sheffield. The band line-up was: Joe Elliott, Rick Savage, Steve Clark, Pete Willis and Tony Kenning.

The pub is located just south (1.2 miles/10 minutes walking distance) of the Bramall Lane football ground area where the band used to rehearse and were still using as a rehearsal space at the time.

The pub is currently known as The Broadfield Ale House (in 2017) and was built in the 1890s, opening in 1896.

Joe talked about the show in a later interview saying the concert was attended by just 35 people. The show date was confirmed via Sounds magazine (Thanks to Lee Gauntlett).

In the same week as this show the venue also hosted concerts by fellow local Yorkshire based acts Clock DVA, Vice-Versa, Cabaret Voltaire plus The Thompson Twins and Human League who went on to major success.

Joe Elliott 6th June 1993 - Interview Quote

"Back in '78/'79 when we were playing places like The Broadfield in Sheffield and Crookes Workingmen's Club and the Dialhouse Workingmen's Club we had Mums and Dads coming (to see us) all the time - because the beer was cheap!."
