Def Leppard guitarist Phil Collen performed a surprise show in Ensenada, Mexico over the weekend with video and photos available.

Phil and guitar tech were back in live action.

Private Fender Event In Mexico

Phil Collen made a surprise trip back to Mexico on Friday 28th March to play an event at a local Fender guitar factory.

The private event took place at the Fender guitar factory in Ensenada in the Baja California territory of Mexico just south of the USA Californian border.

Phil made the trip for this show with his guitar tech John Zocco.

John is seen playing bass for this event having played two shows on guitar in place of Vivian Campbell in October 2024 and in January in Leon, Mexico.

Also in tow was Def Leppard's videographer Ryan Sebastyan taking video clips.

This private event was played as a three piece band with Phil on lead guitar and vocals, John Zocco on bass/backing vocals and Forest Robinson on drums/backing vocals.

They played a short set on a small outdoor stage for around 100 or so employees.

This factory celebrated its 35th anniversary in Summer 2022.

Footage was posted by local fans of both the soundcheck and the main show - thanks to Luis/Wero/Manuel - view them below along with some footage others grabbed and reposted on YouTube.

The set featured multiple Def Leppard songs including 'Pour Some Sugar On Me', 'Hysteria' and 'Bringin' On The Heartbreak'.

Other songs played included Delta Deep's 'Bless These Blues' and the covers of Jimi Hendrix's 'Fire' and Deep Purple's 'Mistreated'.

A new show clip added below has Phil soloing on another unidentified song.

Delta Deep

'Mistreated' was recorded by Phil on the 2015 Delta Deep album with guest lead vocals by Joe Elliott.

'Fire' was played live by Manraze and included on their second album 'punkfunkrootsrock' in 2011.

Delta Deep's drummer is also Forrest Robinson.

Phil last toured with Forrest on the G3 Tour in 2018 as part of Delta Deep.

A band that also featured Debbi Blackwell-Cook on vocals and a stand in bassist replacing Robert DeLeo who was busy with Stone Temple Pilots.

Delta Deep have been inactive since that tour and this summer will mark ten years since their debut, and only, studio album.

Phil had mentioned a couple of years ago that he might release a solo album that would feature band members from both Delta Deep and Manraze on different songs but this project has still not been released.

Phil played two free in-store solos shows in April 2024 in California ahead of Def Leppard's Summer Tour 2024.

Aside from any other private events Phil is scheduled to play next with Def Leppard on 15th May in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

These songs were played during the short set but the exact order and length of the set is not yet known.

Hysteria went into the solo after the first chorus and PSSOM missed the solo altogether to go right into the final chorus/end section after chorus #1.
