Show Intro
"Evening all, and welcome once again to the Joe Elliott Show, right here on the wonderful Planet Rock."
"This week it is coming to you all the way from the mile-high city that is Denver, Colorado."
"Just two shows left here and Salt Lake City, and then we are done."
"You and I, my friends, are not done for at least another hour."
"We've got some great music for you tonight, and I'm going to start off with this one, and I'll explain why I played it after you've heard it."
"This is Nick Gilder."
Nick Gilder
"So the reason I started the show with that particular song is quite simple really."
"Good friend of mine called Chuck, who used to be in a Seattle grunge band about 30 years ago, who never quite made it, but they were a wonderful band, a band called Peace and Silence."
"He came to visit us when we played Portland, Oregon, and he'd been working with Nick Gilder, and he told Nick Gilder, because he knew this up front, that I was a huge fan of that particular song."
"So Nick Gilder signed a setlist to me and gave it to Chuck to give to me."
"So I have now a signed Nick Gilder setlist and a setlist which featured that particular song."
"And I've always loved the fact that the backing vocal sounds so much like Queen."
"It's just a great pop song."
"It is (You Really) Rock Me."
Nirvana
"Well, since we are in the Northwest and we just played Portland and we also played, of course, Seattle."
"Let's listen to some music that came out of that particular area of America."
"Starting off, of course, with Nirvana."
"And before that, from that album, which just set everything off Nevermind, we heard Nirvana."
Pearl Jam
"Funny old world, really, when those bands came out in the early 90s, they were there to destroy what came in the 80s."
"Turns out, all these years later, when you meet some of them, they were actually fans."
"Very odd, but I suppose we all have a press image to live up to."
"There, we just heard the wonderful Pearl Jam from that amazing debut album, Ten, with Alive."
Starz
"Okay, so from the movement which became known as Grunge, let's go back a few years to the movement that was called Sunset Strip Glam."
"This is Starz."
"And before that, we heard a band called Starz."
"I heard the song once on either Alan Freeman or Tommy Vance's show, I can't remember."
"But I heard it once, and I went out and bought it, and I was quite possibly the only person in the UK to do so."
"The song, Cherry Baby."
Mick Ronson
"Featuring one of the greatest solos he ever played in his entire career, that is Mick Ronson."
"From his second solo album back in 1975, Play Don't Worry, the song, a cover of an album that he wrote in the early 90s, from his second solo album back in 1975, Play Don't Worry."
"The song, a cover of an old Pure Prairie League tune called Woman."
"You are listening to the Joe Elliott Show."
"Coming to you all the way from Denver in Colorado.
"Coming up, one of the greatest live performances ever committed to tape.
The Rolling Stones
"And before that, one of my favourite live performances of all time, The Rolling Stones from Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out! with Midnight Rambler."
The Police
"They reformed in 2007 for a one-off world tour, and aren't we lucky that they recorded it."
"That is The Police from the collection Certifiable, with a great live version of Synchronicity II."
Thin Lizzy
"Right, it is now time for 2 minutes and 56 seconds of pure joy from the Vagabonds of the Western world themselves."
"This is Thin Lizzy."
"And before that we heard the wonderful Thin Lizzy from the album Vagabonds Of The Western World with Little Darling."
Montrose
"It would be very remiss of me right now not to mention the fact that I am a huge, huge fan of Sammy Hagar."
"His voice, the man himself, he's a wonderful guy and great singer."
"But I was also a huge fan of the work that the band Montrose did with his replacement, a gentleman called Bob James."
"And there we just heard him on the title track of their fourth and final album, Jump On It."
Show Outro
"And that my friends all the way from Denver in Colorado is about it for this week."
"It's been a real pleasure as always."
"I shall be back with you next week at exactly the same time from who knows where but quite possibly on a sun lounger because I will be done."
"So until then, let's go out on this."
"We just heard Thin Lizzy, one of Dublin's finest bands."
"Here's another band from the very same town."
"From the album Tonic For The Troops."
"This is the Boontown Rats and She's So Modern."
"Until next week, see ya!."
