Show Intro

"Evening all and welcome once again to The Joe Elliott show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. And greetings from Tokyo in Japan. Yes that's where I is right now. We have five shows left with Motley Crue. This is the last leg of a world tour that has lasted 18 months. So this is a bit of a celebration. We're really looking forward to these last five shows. It's gonna fly by. And then we're gonna miss those guys like crazy 'cause they've been such a blast to tour with. But we'll talk about that later on. What we've got right now is 60 minutes of music. And it would have been very easy for me to open the show up with Turning Japanese. Oh yes I really think so. But I decided not to. But I'm going punk. This is the Sex Pistols."

Sex Pistols

"Now for those of you lucky enough to have travelled here in the past. You'll know this already. But this place is absolutely just incredible. The buildings go on forever. You can't see the horizon for these insanely massive buildings that touch the clouds. It's just incredible. The neon is off the charts here. As is the food. As is the drink. And as are the record stores. I was at one yesterday and I've already got a half suitcase full of some incredible stuff. One of which is a DVD of the Sex Pistols live in 1996 at the Budokan. Which I always used to think was called the Bu-do-kan. It sounds way more Japanese actually that way. But apparently it is the Budokan. And watching that last night just put that song in mind. So thought I'd give it a spin. From the album Nevermind The Bollocks Here's the Sex Pistols. We just heard Pretty Vacant."

The Struts

"And from Pretty Vacant to Pretty Vicious. This is brand new Struts."

"And before that brand new Struts. Been waiting for this album for a long time. Actually I heard the rough mixes. But now I've got the finished thing. Luke sent it to me. Thank you Luke. The album is just out. And we just heard the title track of it. It is Pretty Vicious."

The Rolling Stones

"If you're a regular listeners to my show you will know that I always do kind of an end of year summary of the best music in my humble opinion of that particular year. I'm struggling as to which song I shall be picking from the new Rolling Stones album because they're all fantastic. It's absolutely by far their best album since Tattoo You. If not even before then. It's just magnificent. And I thought I'd play another one tonight. I know I played one last week, but there we wen with The Rolling Stones once again. From Hackney Diamonds. The song Get Close. Featuring Elton John on the piano. Doing a wonderful kind of impersonation of Nicky Hopkins really."

Focus

"Now way back in 1972 three gentleman in Holland decided they thought it would be a really good idea to mix one of the greatest guitar riffs of all time with some yodeling. And we agree. This is Focus."

"And before that we heard Focus. What a mixture. Yodeling, great drumming and some fantastic guitar from Jan Akkerman. The song was a huge hit in the UK. And of course it was actually a massive hit in Holland and all over Europe as well. The song is Hocus Pocus."

Whitesnake

"Originally on the 1975 album Come Taste The Band. That is Whitesnake. Just released this year. It's a remix of an album they out out a few years ago called The Purple Album. It is the new version if you like of You Keep On Moving. Sounds great to me."

"You are listening to the Joe Elliott Show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. This week coming to you all the way from Tokyo in Japan. Up next that rock and roll animal that is Lou Reed."

Lou Reed

"And before that featuring some absolutely stunning stunning stunning guitar work from by Steve Hunter and Dick Wagner. We heard Lou Reed from the live album Rock And Roll Animal with Intro/Sweet Jane."

Mott The Hoople

"Ian Hunter absolutely out Dylan-ing Dylan there. Is out Dylan-ing a word?. Well it is now. Absolutely fantastic perfect lyrics for a fantastic perfect song. From the 1973 album Mott that is Mott The Hoople with Hymn For The Dudes."

Cheap Trick

"Right then after all that epic wonderfulness. Let's rock. In a pop kind of way. This is Cheap Trick."

"And before that Cheap Trick. They're just insanely brilliant aren't they?. From the album One On One we heard She's Tight."

Sensational Alex Harvey Band

"Me and Phil were discussing yesterday the wonderfulness of the Sensational Alex Harvey Band. So I just had to pick a song didn't I. From the Impossible Dream album in 1974. That is SAHB as we affectionately call them with Weights Made Of Lead."

Show Outro

"And that my friends, all the way from Tokyo in Japan, is about it for this particular show. It's been a real pleasure as always. As I look out over the vastness of this city. Insane stuff it is. Next week I shall be coming to you all the way from Sydney in Australia. Crikey!.

"So until then I shall leave you with this. 1976. The album is No Heavy Pettin'. The band is UFO. And this is Natural Thing. Till next week see ya!."
