Show Intro
Evening all, and welcome once again to The Joe Elliott Show, right here on the wonderful Planet Rock.
I hope you all had a great Christmas.
We certainly did at Elliott Towers, really looking forward to 2026 now.
But tonight, for the next hour or so, we are going to look back over the year 2025.
I’m going to play highlights of some of the stuff that’s really entertained me for the last 12 months or so.
I couldn’t do it in an hour.
I’d need four hours to play everything, so it is literally highlights.
And there’s no way that I wasn’t going to start the show off with this particular beauty.
Aerosmith / Yungblud
Yes, it’s part re-record, part remix, but it’s very, very good indeed.
It is Aerosmith featuring YUNGBLUD.
It’s from the EP One More Time, which has been highly entertaining me for the last few months.
The song we heard is the 2025 mix of Back in the Saddle.
The Struts
So earlier this year, Def Leppard played their first ever gig with one of my favourite bands, which is The Struts.
I went to say hi to them before they went on, and I also went to say hi again to them after we’d come off.
But mysteriously, Luke Spiller had gone missing.
“Where’s he gone?” I asked, and they said, “Oh, he’s on his way back to London.”
“He’s in the studio with Brian May, doing a bit of a session.”
So here is the result of that session.
And before that, we heard The Struts featuring Brian May, with a song originally released off their first album back in 2014.
They’ve reworked it, and having Brian put all the little Queen-y bits on, working in tandem with Adam on guitar, really elevates it to another place.
The song is Could Have Been Me.
Bon Jovi
That’s quite possibly my favourite song on that album.
That album is the revisited version of Forever by Bon Jovi.
Yes, I know I did a duet with Jon Bon Jovi on that particular album, a song called Walls of Jericho.
But I really, really like this, featuring Jelly Roll.
It is Living Proof.
Halestorm
Now, featuring a cameo by the legends, that is Paul Rodgers, this is Halestorm.
And before that, we heard Halestorm from the Can’t Get Enough: A Tribute to Bad Company album.
Now, by virtue of the fact that they’re sometimes rushed, a lot of tribute albums can be a bit patchy.
I have to say, this one is not at all.
It’s got some brilliant, brilliant stuff on it, and this again is one of my favourites from the album.
That is Halestorm with their version of Shooting Star.
John Fogerty
Earlier this summer, when Def Leppard did a Teenage Cancer Trust gig for The Who in California, it featured the likes of, as well as The Who of course, Cheap Trick, Peter Frampton, The Doobie Brothers, ourselves, and the gentleman that we just heard, John Fogerty.
It was an absolute pleasure watching this man perform.
Eighty years old and still banging out those vocals like he did when he was in his twenties.
Absolutely wonderful stuff there from a re-record of a bunch of early Creedence Clearwater Revival songs.
The album is called Legacy.
The song we just heard was Born on the Bayou.
You are listening to The Joe Elliott Show, right here on the wonderful Planet Rock, which this week is a look back over the year 2025.
Coming up, a really beautiful song by a fellow Planet Rock presenter.
Toby and The Whole Truth
And before that, we heard Toby and the Whole Truth, which is in fact Toby Jepson.
The album is Look Out! Volume 2.
The song we heard is a beautiful track with a very snappy title.
Ready for this?
Falling in Love Is Harder Than You Could Ever Prepare Your Heart For.
Truer words never spoken, Toby.
Robert Plant
Originally written and recorded way back in 1930 by Blind Willie Johnson.
That is Robert Plant in 2025 with the same song.
It’s a wonderful bit of work.
It’s from his latest album, Saving Grace.
It is Soul of a Man.
Bryan Adams
Right, rolling with the punches.
This is Bryan Adams.
And before that, Bryan Adams, who I definitely had the pleasure of sharing a stage with over a weekend back in September in Cheltenham.
The album is Roll with the Punches.
The song we just heard was Make Up Your Mind.
Cheap Trick
Now, if you’ve heard my show recently, you’ll have heard me raving on about this album quite a bit.
It’s a really great album with a fantastic cover, definitely worth checking out.
It is Cheap Trick.
The album is All Washed Up.
The song we heard, a great bit of work, is called Bad Blood.
Show Outro
And that, my dear friends, on what has been my review of some of the great music that has been released in 2025, and has floated my boat, that is about it for this particular show.
Couldn’t play it all.
Only got 60 minutes.
But I hope you enjoyed, and agreed with at least some of these choices.
I shall be back with you next week.
In fact, I shall be back with you next year for more of the same, only just a little bit different.
So until then, just to say once again, Happy New Year everybody.
Have a great time.
And this is the last track of 2025, from the album Out of Stella.
And I can completely see him in one of these, because he is the ultimate rock star.
This is Michael Monroe with Black Cadillac.
Till next week.
Until next year.
See ya.
