Show Intro
"Evening all, welcome once again. It is the Joe Elliott show right here on the magnificent Planet Rock. How are you? Good to be with you once again. Always a pleasure. I've got 60 short minutes, one solid hour to play you some wonderful, in my humble opinion, music. Where are we going to start with? Let's go back to 1976. This is Lone Star."
Lone Star
"Nice bit of pop pub trivia for you right now. Which solo artist had two different singers that once performed in the same band, but not necessarily at the same time? The answer is, of course, Gary Moore, yes, because John Sloman, who was the second singer in Lone Star, sang with Gary Moore, as did Kenny Driscoll, who was the singer that you just heard there from the debut album of the band Lone Star, the album of the same name, the song that we heard, Flying In The Real."
Pat Travers
"Right then, here's some Pat Travers for you."
"And before that, Pat Travers, taken from his anthology, Volume One, we heard the song Your Love Can't Be Right."
UFO
"As you just heard, we started the show off with Lone Star, which featured on guitar, one Mr Paul Tonka Chapman, as did that song that we just heard, because by 1980 he had long joined UFO. In fact, I think he joined in 1978 after Michael quit. And there, from the album The Wild, The Willing And The Innocent, we just heard UFO with a wonderful bit of work called Long Gone."
Roxy Music
"I'll tell you what is right, though. This, Roxy Music."
"And before that, Roxy Music, taken from their 1973 album For Your Pleasure, we heard Editions Of You."
Queen
"Singing drummers, you just can't beat them, can you? There's Phil Collins, there's Don Henley, and then there's the daddy of them all, in my humble opinion, Roger Taylor. Absolutely magnificent voice. And, of course, a magnificent drummer for the band Queen there from the album Jazz. We just heard More Of That Jazz."
"You are listening to the Joe Elliott Show on the wonderful Planet Rock. Coming up, we're going to dive into the decline and fall of the British Empire with The Kinks."
The Kinks
"And before that, The Kinks, wonderful stuff. From the album Arthur Or The Decline And Fall Of The British Empire, we heard the stereo version of Shangri-La. And yes, there was once a mono version."
The Small Faces
"Two brilliant 60s British bands back to back right there. That is The Small Faces, taken from the absolutely the best compilation, the song we heard, Here Come The Nice."
AC/DC
"No mono for this next tune, full spectrum stereo it is. This is AC/DC."
"And before that, AC/DC from the album Let There Be Rock with Problem Child."
Dr. Feelgood
"Taken from their All Through The City box set, that is Dr. Feelgood. Fantastic R&B. What a wonderful band they were. The song we just heard, She Does It Right."
Show Outro
"And that, my friends, is about it for this week. It's been a real pleasure as always. I shall be back with you next week at exactly the same time, so don't touch that dial."
"Until then, I shall leave you with this. Now, featured on the album Wizzard Brew as a bonus track, it was a standalone single in 1973. This is Wizzard and See My Baby Jive. Until next week, see ya!."
