The Joe Elliott Show - 15th February 2025 Transcript - (Transcribed by dltourhistory)
Show Intro
Evening all and welcome once again to the Joe Elliott Show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock.
Always a pleasure to be with you.
I've got 60 minutes to play you some of what I consider to be fantastic music tonight.
Starting off with the Scorpions.
Scorpions
They're celebrating their, get this, 60th anniversary I believe this year.
Unbelievable.
They must have been very, very young when they formed.
That's the Scorpions with a fantastic tune called Catch Your Train.
Kaviani
Now, any hardcore Leppard fans listening may be familiar with the name Pete Woodroffe.
He was our engineer on the Adrenalize album.
He was a producer on Slang, Euphoria, and X.
And he contacted me this week and said, "Would you like to listen to a song that he'd co-written with a kid from Sheffield?"
And I thought, "Yeah, I'll give it a listen."
It's got an official release in March and I thought you might want to hear it.
Goes by the name of Kaviani.
And before that, it's a world exclusive, folks.
Young kid from Sheffield called Kaviani.
The song, produced by and co-written with Pete Woodroffe, Def Leppard's producer and engineer all the way back to 1990 when we first worked together on the Adrenalize album.
The song is Switch It Up.
Stone Temple Pilots
Such a great, great band.
That is the Stone Temple Pilots from their album No. 4 with Sour Girl.
Bad Company
Now, one of the perks of being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is that you get to vote on the artists that have been nominated every year for the rest of your life.
And I'm happy to say that this next band has finally been nominated and they've got my vote.
This is Bad Company.
And before that, we heard Bad Company, who have finally been nominated.
Let's hope, fingers crossed, that they get inducted in 2025.
As I said in my intro, one of the perks of being in the Hall of Fame is being able to vote forever on every year.
And there are 12 nominees, I think, and we're allowed to vote for six.
Of course, I tend to lean towards the rock acts more than anything else.
And fingers crossed that they get in.
So I thought, better play them this week from their third album.
We just heard the title track Run With The Pack.
Roger Taylor
Wonderful stuff there from Mr. Roger Taylor from his debut solo album Fun In Space.
We just heard Magic Is Loose.
You are listening to the Joe Elliott Show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock.
Coming up, the sweet sounds of the Rolling Stones.
The Rolling Stones
And before that, from their latest album (although it's now 18 months, almost two years old), the album is Hackney Diamonds.
We just heard the Rolling Stones featuring Stevie Wonder and Lady Gaga with a magnificent bit of work called the Sweet Sounds Of Heaven.
Rod Stewart
Two of the greatest exports that the UK ever produced, back to back there.
That's Rod Stewart.
Wonderful stuff.
The title track from his album Gasoline Alley.
Steely Dan
Right, time to give those wacky showbiz kids their time in the spotlight.
This is Steely Dan.
And before that, we heard the band Steely Dan, who are named after a, again, look it up on Wikipedia.
Kind of related, kind of funny.
And taken from the album Showbiz Kids, we just heard Kid Charlemagne.
Wow.
Too weird.
Cat Stevens
Okay, so this is the funniest and weirdest coincidence ever, and I swear to God, I'm not making this up.
I did not plan this.
All I'm going to say to you is go to Wikipedia for the answers, because at this time of night, I'm not really going to say anything on the radio.
We just heard from his debut album Cat Stevens.
The album is called Mona Bone Jakon, which is a nickname for a specific part of his body which you shall, as I said, look up on Wikipedia.
But a beautiful song called Lady D'Arbanville.
I remember buying the single when I was like maybe 10 years old.
Show Outro
Anyway, that, my friends, is about it for this week.
It's been a real pleasure, as always.
I shall be back with you next week at exactly the same time, so please don't go anywhere.
Until then, I shall leave you with this.
Luckily, as far as I'm aware, nobody died this week, but sadly I did read that David Johansen from the New York Dolls is suffering from stage 4 cancer and fell down a flight of stairs a couple of months ago and broke his back.
So he's been in hospital ever since.
All I can say is there's a webpage. Please support the guy. He needs some help.
And he's been a hero of mine since I was 13 years old.
So I'm going to finish this show with one of the greatest things that his band ever did.
From the album The New York Dolls, this is the band themselves with Jet Boy.
Please, David Johansen, pull through.
Until next week, see ya!
