DEF LEPPARD Top UK Hard Rock Touring Act Since 1980 With 11 Million Tickets Sold

Def Leppard are the highest ticket selling and grossing UK hard rock touring band of the last 42 years according to Pollstar.
The Stadium Tour kicked off in Atlanta, GA on 16th June.
The first leg of 18 dates was completed on 21st July in Denver, CO.
The tour will resume with two shows on 5th/6th August in Boston, MA at Fenway Park.
Pollstar have revealed the Top Touring Artists of the last 42 years.
The lists are based on data for concerts dating back to July 1980 and sees Def Leppard as the highest placed UK hard rock band.
The lists of Top Touring Artists is based on submitted information on total box-office grosses and total ticket sales.
The data goes back to July 1980 when Def Leppard were in the middle of their first North American headlining tour.
It covers all of the submitted data from their worldwide tours since 7th July 1980 to 1st July 2022.
The 2018 tour with Journey was said to have sold 1 Million tickets with the current Stadium Tour selling close to the same number already.
In 1987/1988 the band played to 1.5 million fans in North America alone.

The Stadium Tour recently topped the Pollstar Live 75 chart for the top current tours in North America.
Box office Grosses
The band have grossed $514,231,844 worth of tickets since July 1980.
This places them as the highest UK rock band earner in the last 42 years ahead of Iron Maiden.
Tickets Sold
The band have sold 11,321,650 concert tickets since July 1980.
This also places the band as the UK Hard Rock act who have sold the most tickets in this 42 year period.
As with the first list it places them a few spots above Iron Maiden.
Metallica
Metallica are the top hard rock act of any country for both lists with 19 million plus tickets sold making a massive 1.2 billion dollars plus.
The top box office draw were The Rolling Stones with U2 selling the most tickets.
The Rolling Stones are also the highest placed UK band on both charts.

42nd on a list topped by The Rolling Stones who along with other top listed acts charge considerably more for their tickets.
Def Leppard are the highest placed UK Hard Rock band ahead of Iron Maiden at #44.
Depeche Mode, Coldplay and The Rolling Stones are the only other UK bands above them.

Def Leppard are the highest placed UK Hard Rock band ahead of Iron Maiden who are at 35.
