DEF LEPPARD Summer Stadium Tour 2024 In MINNEAPOLIS, MN (Show Report/Setlist)
Def Leppard played a Summer Stadium Tour 2024 show last night in Minneapolis, MN with 18 songs performed.
The show took place at the 39,504 capacity Target Field.
The first show in this city since August 2022.
The second time at this venue.
Pyromania In Minnesota
The Summer Stadium Tour moved to the state of Minnesota after the three show run in Texas ended in San Antonio on Friday.
A weekend off for the band in Minneapolis.
And (Phil's guitar tech) decided to go and visit the stadium they played in last time in August 2022 on The Stadium Tour to see Metallica.
(As now confirmed on Joe's radio show the band did not in fact attend any of the shows mentioned by Sav.)
Sav mentioned the weekend of major gigs in the city/surrounding area on IG - Green Day (18th August Target Field), Hozier (17th August Xcel Energy Center, St. Paul, MN) and The Struts (18th August Fillmore Minneapolis).
Metallica played U.S. Bank Stadium on their M72 World Tour (see Pics below of Vivian with Metallica's Kirk Hammett in a hotel).
Their second show of two at that stadium..
If the band had attended night one they would have been reunited with Mammoth WVH who supported them for three shows in 2023.
But last night's show saw them back at Target Field where they played with Journey in 2018.
This time they would be closing the show in darkness.
Super Rock Under The Supermoon
And after the Steve Miller Band and Journey had done their thing the darkness descended on the stadium.
Along with the city skyline this gave the band another cool backdrop with the Supermoon shining brightly above the back of the stage.
Another stadium with a cool view for fans to enjoy as well as the great stage visuals.
No weather concerns, and no roof anyway at this venue, meant a return to playing outdoors for the first time since 7th August in New York.
Starting once again at around 9:30pm with 'Rock! Rock!'.
Sadly not many live broadcasts throughout this show as there had been in San Antonio.
But what live footage was posted showed another spectacular stadium show was witnessed by around 35,000 fans.
Billy In Minneapolis
'Billy's Got A Gun' was in fact played (see IG videos below) and not 'Comin' under Fire' - Phil's post on IG used a setlist from the previous show or they changed their minds.
'Comin' Under Fire' will likely be played again at at least one or two of the only nine shows now left to play.
And just six of those in stadiums with Journey.
The Summer Stadium Tour 2024 seems to have flown by.
Perhaps we'll soon find out about plans for 2025 including the possible Las Vegas Residency mentioned by Joe in 2023 when 'Drastic Symphonies' was released.
Up next three full days off before heading further west.
Twins Shirt
Keeping up with his new tradition Sav wore a Minnesota Twins baseball shirt for 'Hysteria' and 'PSSOM'.
18 Song Setlist
An 18 song setlist was played.
'Just Like '73' was played in this city for the first time.
Minneapolis History
The first visit to Minneapolis was in August 1980 at the Civic Center as support to Judas Priest on their first American tour.
Target Field was first played in July 2018 with Journey and was their first ever stadium shows in the city with Def Leppard playing first.
The second took place in August 2022 on The Stadium Tour at U.S. Bank Stadium with Motley Crue.
And like last night the band closed that show.
Last night's show was the 20th overall performance in Minneapolis.
The next Def Leppard show takes place in Phoenix, AZ on 23rd August.
