DEF LEPPARD Summer Stadium Tour 2024 In FLUSHING, NY (Show Report/Setlist)

Def Leppard played a Summer Stadium Tour 2024 show last night in Flushing, NY with 18 songs performed.

The show took place at the 41,922 capacity Citi Field.

The first show in this city since June 2022.

The second time at this venue.

Return To New York

After Joe had issues caused by an 'upper respiratory infection' in Boston this show seemed to be slightly in doubt.

But all seemed well with no cancellation or postponement announced.

A good sign that everything was OK again.

A return to New York state and a stadium which stands on the site of the old and legendary Shea Stadium.

Also another venue where the massive video screen dwarves the stage set up in front of it.

The only possible problem might be rain.

The forecast suggested it could rain heavily even up into Def Leppard's closing set time.

Time to rock in Flushing?...Queens?...New York?...take your pick.

No Rain (?)

It may have rained before show time and during The Steve Miller Band's opening set but by the time Journey started at 7:30pm the rain had gone.

As noted by Rick as he filmed his usual pre show video the weather was kind to the band.

Despite the gloomy skies it did not look like it would rain for Def Leppard, at least it seemed that way.

Now watching the YouTube videos/viewing the photos shows it did start to rain during the show but obviously the show went on as normal.

Def Leppard started the show promptly at 9:30pm with the video, Pyromania intro and smoke.

'Rock! Rock!' reverberated around the massive Citi Field which was full up with over 37,000 fans.

Joe In Good Voice

'Rocket' followed and Joe sounded in good shape after his issues in Boston.

Issues which hopefully will clear up fully when they have another day off today and then two more days off following the Hollywood, FL show on the 9th.

This week being 9 years on from the Sturgis Rally show in 2015 where the bike fumes contributed to Joe's problems and would eventually see him lose his voice in early 2016 on the Hysteria cruise.

The show continued through the Hysteria hits and the now familiar mid set Pyromania section.

It appears the band have now decided to rotate 'Comin' Under Fire' and 'Billy's Got A Gun' night by night.

This time 'Billy' was played.

Joe referred to the rain before 'Two Steps Behind' saying it would not stop the show (or words to that effect - see below!).

The New York crowd sounded in good voice with fans broadcasting much of the second half of the show up to the big finish with 'PSSOM'.

Show #13 done but not quite halfway yet as there were 27 shows scheduled in 2024 (going from St. Louis) and not 26 as Joe would have you believe on his radio show.

Thrust Stage Back

After the somewhat curious change to the Thrust/walkway stage in Boston it was back in its full form in Flushing, New York.

If it was a planned change they seem to have decided to revert back to the original setup.

The upcoming behind the scenes videos may explain it.

18 Song Setlist

An 18 song setlist was played.

'Just Like '73' and 'Billy's Got A Gun' both played in this city for the first time.

Flushing History

The first visit to Flushing was in June 2022 on The Stadium Tour.

The first time they played Citi Field.

They have of course played nearby New York City many more times since 1980.

Last night's show was the 2nd overall performance in Flushing.

The next Def Leppard show takes place Hollywood, FL on 9th August.
