Def Leppard played a Live 2026 tour show in Alajuela, Costa Rica last night with 20 songs performed.

The show took place at the 16,000 capacity Anfiteatro Imperial - Parque Viva.

The band's first time at this venue.

The first ever visit to this country.

First Time In Costa Rica

From the hills of San Salvador where the band were returning after 29 years it was time for a debut.

The first ever visit by Def Leppard to the country of Costa Rica,

Alajuela province, about 12 miles to the north west of the capital city of San Jose, and a sports and entertainment complex called Parque Viva.

And on this complex is the venue for this show, the Anfiteatro Imperial (Imperial Amphitheatre).

A 16,000 plus capacity outdoor venue that looks exactly like many of the traditional amphitheatres played by the band for many years in the USA and Canada,

A seated section in front of the stage covered by a roof and a big grass lawn section.

After many years away from the amphitheatre circuit the band were back to a familiar looking venue having returned to a few of them in 2025 in the USA.

But this one was being played for the very first time ever,

Would the weather be good for this outdoor show?.

Yes, 75F temps and bright sunshine and prefect conditions for this very first show in Costa Rica.

Extreme

Extreme once more kicked off the night with a set that started earlier than usual at 6:30pm.

And, like the headline band, they were also making their live debut in Costa Rica,

Maybe a certain guitarist would be in the mood to celebrate by playing on a song with Def Leppard again?.

A Hot Night In Alajuela

7:50pm came and the band hit the stage with 'Rejoice' as this earlier than usual show got underway.

Sadly anyone online following along didn't get to see or hear much until the second half of the show but the fans did,

16,000 fans packing an amphitheatre which must have transported the band back to their pre-2020 tours of the USA and Canada which were filled with many outdoor amphitheatre shows.

But this one was in Costa Rica and their very first time playing for their fans here.

Multiple videos posted since show us the fans were just as into the show as any on this Live 2026 tour,

Joe greeted the crowd before Let's Get Rocked:

"Good to meet ya after all these years."

And:

"This is our very first time here."

The crowd reaction during this song and many others suggested the crowd were very glad to have seen their first Def Leppard show in Costa Rica,

And Mr. Nuno Bettencourt from Extreme did decide to join in the celebrations of this first visit by joining the band again for the extended jam version of 'Slang'.

Once more wearing the red top seen during his first guest appearance on this song back in June on the UK leg of the tour.

'Two Steps Behind' was kept in the set along with 'When Love & Hate Collide' making it another 20 song setlist.

After another triumphant night on the South American tour Joe ended with:

"Wow! - Muchas gracias amigos!."

It's safe to sat the first ever show in Costa Rica was a success and the long wait for a show here is now over.

Just a few more shows to go in 2026 for the band now,

Next up five extra days off for the band following the recent Quito, Ecuador show cancellation and then a return to Colombia.

And hopefully the days leading up to this show will be less dramatic for Joe than in 2023.

20 Song Setlist

'Rejoice' and all other songs were played here for the first time.

Costa Rica History

No previous visits for Def Leppard but there is a bit of related history.

Joe had a scheduled show on 3rd May 2012 in San Jose, Costa Rica at the Ricardo Saprissa Stadium.

This was on a South American tour with the Rock N' Roll All-Stars when a number of shows were cancelled.

A tour that saw Joe play in Paraguay and Peru and almost make his debut in Venezuela and Chile with shows also cancelled in Brazil, Ecuador, Guatemala, Panama and Colombia.

Last night's show was the first performance in Alajuela and in Costa Rica.

The next Def Leppard show takes place on 2nd November in Bogotá, Colombia.
