Def Leppard singer Joe Elliott performed at the Classic Rock Awards in Los Angeles on this day in 2014 and photos/video are available.

The event took place at Avalon Hollywood in Los Angeles, CA.

Joe performed with his old side band Kings Of Chaos with special guest Brian May from Queen joining them to play 'Tie Your Mother Down'. He also presented Ozzy Osbourne with his Classic Album award for 1981's 'Blizzard Of Ozz' during the show which was hosted by Sammy Hagar.

Joe recalled Def Leppard opening for Ozzy and his band on the 1981 tour when they were supporting the 'High 'n' Dry' album. Including a humorous story about a certain 'incident' in Pittsburgh, PA. Read his speech below and an interview transcript.

Joe and Phil accepted the Album Of the Year award for 'Def Leppard' in November 2016 at the Ryogoku Kokugikan Arena in Tokyo, Japan.

Kings Of Chaos played six songs in all with other guests including Sammy Hagar, Bill Gibbons and Joe Perry with highlights broadcast in December 2014 by AXS TV.

"The first tour Def Leppard ever did - September 1979 in the UK was opening for Sammy Hagar and he was f**king amazing."

"Which leads us very nicely to 1981. Def Leppard's second tour of America and we are opening - we're the opening act. As you would be on a second album High 'n' Dry which was doing OK but not great. But the headline act was an amazing guy who really looked after us. And he - well let's just say he liked a drink. he liked a drink and he would come into our dressing room and one night in the Stanley Theatre in Pittsburgh - came into our dressing room just to make sure that we were OK with being fed and being looked after. And we were, we were being looked after. But as he was making - you know asking the questions he just walked over to the window and you know those American buildings where you can see the staircase - the fire escape on the outside of the window. He walked over, lifted up the sache window and he just had a piss out the window. Little did he know, that he was pissing on his own audience cause they were queueing up to get into the building. The guy was Ozzy Osbourne."

Which is nice but it's a bit like visiting relatives at Christmas where as this time it's kind of going on holiday or something."
