Mark Waldi/103.5 The Arrow - Phil Collen Interview Quotes
2016 Summer Tour/How's it been going?
"Fantastic. It's probably one of the best tours we've done since I can remember. Certainly one of the busiest. You know since like maybe the Adrenalize tour or something like that. So no it's been fantastic."
"Whatever's the reason for that is. The rabid fans and all that, you know, we'll take that. It's really cool."
Working With Tesla
"Yeah there's a single out at the moment. Save That Goodness. You know I have another band Delta Deep. Which is kind of a rock, blues, funk band. Whatever you want to call it. It's kind of a mixture of that. We were writing songs for that. Me, Debbi Blackwell-Cook and my wife Helen. And we played it to the Tesla guys and they said. 'You know what, this would be a great Tesla song'."
"So that's how it came about and because I see the guys everyday and I've known everyone for 30 years. They said come up and produce it. And so that's how it started off. That single's out and doing really well. A lot of people are loving that. So they said look how about doing the album."
"So we've actually been recording while we're on tour. Which has been amazing. We find a room backstage or even on the bus sometimes. We record guitars and stuff and some of the writing. But the lead vocals and drums we do in a studio. So we do that later on. We got like nine of ten songs on the go. That are in different levels of completion. And certainly by the end of the year we should have the album in the can. So it's really exciting but again makes it really busy as well."
And I think, you know, I've been joining them onstage as well every night and that's also been a blast as well."
