Def Leppard guitarist Vivian Campbell has reacted to the recent news stories about Donald Trump possibly introducing the band on stage.

CNN published a story over the weekend about Donald Trump introducing the band at the Iowa State Fair show in Des Moines.

They quoted "one of his aides" as saying he would introduce the band on stage sending all of the (so called) rock music news websites into a frenzy (Blabbermouth etc).

This seemed highly unlikely given the band are currently using the Disintegrate Intro. They have had people introduce them at state fairs before but usually local DJ's prior to their own introduction tapes.

The band did briefly have some involvement with Donald Trump when they played a private concert as part of the Celebrity Apprentice show in the USA in 2010 which was then broadcast on the season finale in May 2011.

Trump was seen watching the show from a balcony of a New York club at the event organised by series winner John Rich. The band took part in the show due to John Rich's campaign which eventually raised $1.3M for the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

As Vivian says the band don't make a habit of having any association with political candidates and especially endorsing anyone trying to run for any office as a band.

Vivian's comments from facebook can be seen below along with the original story from CNN.

The band play the Iowa State Fair in Des Moines, IA on 15th August.

"I really, really, really hope that there's no truth to this rumour. Def Leppard have never been a political band, and if we were, I for one wouldn't be associating my name with this clown:"
