Def Leppard guitarist Vivian Campbell was interviewed by The Georgia Straight newspaper in September 1992 during the Adrenalize tour and it is now available online.
Vivian talked to the Vancouver based paper about joining the band earlier that year and Joe mentioning in early 1991 that he wanted him in the band.
He eventually did join in early 1992 with his first major appearance taking place at the Freddie Mercury Tribute show following a warm-up in Dublin.
Many thanks to Steve Newton for sharing it.

Joining Def Leppard
"I've known [Leppard singer] Joe Elliott for a few years," says Campbell. "He lives in Ireland, where I'm originally from, so I would see him every time I'd go there - we have a lot of mutual friends and stuff. And a couple of months after Steve had died, he had said that they were gonna continue, that they were gonna finish the record as a four-piece, but that they were eventually going to look for a new guitar player - and that he would like it to be me."
