Review Def Leppard and Heart By hsaldana
The show: Legendary arena rock acts Def Leppard and Heart at the AT&T Center on Saturday. They toured the U.S. together this summer, and Saturday marked the last show. Evan Watson opened.
Attendance: About 12,000
Heart: With sister and guitarist Nancy Wilson at her side, singer Ann Wilson and their roaring band threw down from the start, opening with Led Zeppelin’s “Rock and Roll” and bolting through classic ’70s hits “Magic Man” and “Heartless.” Ann Wilson remains one of hard rock’s all-time vocalists. Nancy Wilson transported all to “the Roarin’ ’80s” singing “These Dreams.” But it’s Ann singing “Crazy On You” and “Barracuda” that caused near pandemonium.
Def Leppard: The British rockers opened with a new song, the anthemic “Undefeated.” Without missing a beat, they kicked into “Let’s Get Rocked.” Fans relived and sang along with Joe Elliott to favorites “Animal,” “Foolin’ ” and “Love Bites,” plus an unplugged segment. Nearly 30 years later, guitarist Phil Collen holds up well enough to play shirtless, and one-armed drummer Rick Allen still drives the long-running band.
