Solvesborg, Sweden - Fan Reviews
Fan Review - By Mattias
Me and four friends arrived at the festival the day before Def Leppard headlined.
Watched Queensryche the next day, enjoyed their show. Towards the end of the evening quite many people were standing up front waiting for Def Leppard to begin their show. I talked to some other Leppard fans and discussed possible setlists etc. On the stage nearby, WASP had just finished their show. Now it was time for Def Leppard. I was actually quite nervous because the band had not played in Sweden for a long time.
They began their show with three of their best: "Let it go", "Rock Rock (Till You Drop)" and "High 'N' Dry (Saturday Night)"...Perfect! I think the band won so much by beginning with those three. During their performance, a big screen showed what went on on stage (Rick Allen's drumming was so amazing to watch!) and also showed the band´s history (pictures of Steve Clark, Pete Willis, earlier live performances etc).
Maybe their show could have been a bit longer. Maybe I don't like songs like "Promises", "Let´s get Rocked" and "Make love like a Man" BUT:
They played rock songs.
They showed the audience at Sweden Rock that they are a great live band.
They ended their show with "Wasted".
And Joe really knows how to communicate with the audience and joked about how the band didn't really know how they would be accepted at a festival where bands like Venom were playing... I think the band did a great show. They played some real early stuff, won the crowd and even got good reviews in newspapers (that alone is a victory!) Like Joe said at the end of their show: "Don't forget us and we won't forget you!".
I will never forget "Wasted" at Sweden Rock Festival 2006!.
