San Bernardino, CA - Fan Reviews

Fan Review - By Lisa

Def Leppard rocked Southern California June 5! Fans were standing in line for hours and partying in the parking lot. We had a great view of the sound check and it sounded awesome. Just a taste of what was to come! As the gates were opened everyone made a bee line for the front of the stage. When Def Leppard hit the stage the crowd went wild! We rocked to all their hits with No Matter What being equally well received. The band looked and sounded great. Very energetic! It was great seeing such a diverse age group from babies to grandparents. My 11 year old son went and loved it. Monday at school he found out one of his friends had been there too. Very cool!.

I just got home from the show tonight! I didn't stay to see Bryan Adams and wanted to beat the traffic! Anyway! Tonight's show ROCKED! I was about 7 or 8 feet from the stage standing room only! The closest I had ever been! The guys wer very energized tonight and the crowed went wild for them! The set list was the same as the first few shows! The LEPPS KICKED ASS tonight! Joe had on black leather pants and a black shirt with some band on it! Phil had removed his shirt by the second song! Sav had on TIGHT jeans and a vest! Viv had on a button down grey dress shirt unbuttoned! Rick had on cargo shorts and some motorcycle shirt! GUESS WHAT...............I practically got right up front!!! Maybe 7 or 8 feet from the stage!! I was on Viv's side!

From where I was standing on Viv's side I could pretty much see everything that was going on! I could see Rick Allen's wife and daughter standing at the side just having fun! At the end of the show over where I was Viv saw his two daughters at the side of the stage and brought them up for a few seconds and gave them both kisses and hugs! Very touching! All in all I had the time of my life tonight!!!.

As the thousands of fans waited to get in the venue, the band treated everyone to a soundcheck at around 4:30 p.m. that consisted of "Action," "Promises," "No Matter What" and, in a complete surprise, "Gods of War." Although they did not play "Gods" in their main set, the song sounded amazing. Hopefully, they are gearing it up for the non-Bryan Adams dates. As I had seen Def Leppard 16 previous times, the highlights were "Action," "No Matter What" and "Have You Ever Needed Someone So Bad." Seeing a greatest hits show can be tricky because the diehards prefer the more obscure songs, while the masses want to see the hits. I imagine that the cities where the band plays with Tesla will be treated to songs we did not hear from "X," "On Through The Night," and "Slang."

Anyway, it is difficult to be objective because I have seen the vast majority of these tunes played live so many times and the band only has 85 minutes during co-headline dates. Viv, Sav, Phil and Rick played flawlessly as always, while Joe sounded great. I just wish they would have dug a little deeper into the second disc of "Rock of Ages.".

Well my 3rd Def Leppard concert only an hour away from my home in Palm Desert and off my wife and I went. Arrowhead Credit Union Park was packed w/appx.10,000 fans; I'd say 98% were there more for Leppard than Bryan Adams. Lots of older Leppard T-Shirts as well as alot of new ones being sold; maybe I saw 2 Adams shirts being worn and that's a stretch. We sat in the stands in shallow left field w/a very good view but, the venue just did not have the same feeling as an arena/amphitheater does. In Irvine (Oct.2003), now that's a venue and the vibe was what it should be. This minor league park was in a blah part of of town and the seats were on the small side (usually I do not complain, but this is the truth and has nothing to do w/our favorite band and the best band on the planet).

Some minor tech glitches throughout the show (Joe's mic a few times) but, when all was working (90% of the show), the band was awesome to the 10th degree both in sound, looks and stage presence. Rick Allen really sounded great and just another stellar show by all in Leppard.

Songs that stood out in my mind the following morning(today) were Photograph, Love Bites, Rock of Ages, Rocket and Bringin' on the Heartbreak; with Bringin' On The Heartbreak in my opinion being the very best of the show. No Matter What was excellent and I can not wait for "YEAH !!" on September 10th. I wish it was a 2 hour gig but,I knew that going in- I did not stay for Adams, had to get back to the Desert for an early morning of "family stuff-my parents 50th Anniversary who live 10 minutes away". There really is nothing like seeing your Rock-n-Roll Heroes Live, and I look forward to many more. Thank You Darren for this Fantastic Site.

Fan Review - My first Def Leppard show By Dana

Sunday, June 5th in San Bernardino in beautiful sunny Southern California. I arrived at 11am and hung out with some really nice women then more people arrived as the afternoon went on. About 7 hours into the hot sun, but it was sooo worth it! A good opening act, two guys on acoustic guitar. But the anticipation was building fast, and when they finally came on stage the audience screaming was deafening! I stood front row, and I'll never be anywhere else but front row for a Leppard show. It was incredible.. they were so energetic and charismatic, and animated, but what stood out for me the most was all the love. We would wave and smile, and they would smile back, LOTS of eye contact.

Everyone sang along to every song, the crowd was so happy all throughout, it had to be so apparent to the guys how much we all love them. There's a lower riser in front of the actual stage where they would all step down and let us watch them play, and that was so much fun! When they sang No Matter What the audience response was one of pure joy! Every song was perfect, they sounded amazing, and well I can't put any more words to how I feel about it. It's two days later and I'm still in heaven over the whole experience. Next show for me is City Stages festival in Birmingham, Alabama on June 18th. See you then!.
