Def Leppard @ Hirsch Memorial Coliseum By Shreveport-Bossier Times
Def Leppard came on like gangbusters in concert at Hirsch Coliseum Saturday night, delighting a sold-out crowd of more than 10,000 people and, perhaps, causing a ruse in business for ear doctors over the coming week.
The concert was loud but the music was spirited and melodic.
Add to this the superb use of lights and smoke and the judicious employment of such special effects as lasers, as well as the minimum use of the expletives for which hard rock bands have become infamous.
The result was a memorable concert.
The guitars of Steve Clark and Phil Collen were interesting, as was the bass playing of Rick Savage.
But it was the combination of the instrumental voices, stage effects and lighting, as well as the band's almost incredible stamina during the two-hour main set, that brought the fans to their feet again and again.
