Peoria, IL - Media Reviews
Def Leppard @ Peoria Civic Center By Peoria Journal Star
Def Leppard plays institutional hard rock, but they can't be considered generic or interchangeable.
They avoid becoming untouchable energy - the Clinton nuke plant with strobe lights - by blending sound a fury.
They play a kind of baroque buzz saw: a searing, spinning edge ripping through the heart of a steady tempo with a solid bottom.
'Gods Of War' was a highlight along with 'Hysteria'.
The twin guitar sound of Phil Collen and Steve Clark showed itself sharper on 'Hysteria' which also gave the crowd some light and magic on a banner screen.
'Gods' followed with Clark's fiery guitar offering explosions of emotions in his long, strong introductions. followed in turn by a terrific transition - from wild sound effects of a coper or machine gun yielding to the strains of 'Die Hard The Hunter'.
Def Leppard is a hard rock band with harmonies and melodic sense.
It combined a dreamy reveries with the excitement of an anthem or rallying cry.
